Latham is conveniently located in Center City within walking distance to many excellent restaurants as well as Rittenhouse Square. They have reopend their bar/restaurant, and I found it quite nice & somewhat intimate. The overall atmosphere is more a cross between a US hotel and a smaller private European upscale hotel. In short, quite nice.
The hotel itself was was both charming and elegant.the comfort level in the room was wonderful.room service would have made it perfect!the staff was professional and friendly.

Nicely renovated, clean, compact rooms in a fantastic downtown location. The linens were great, and the bathrooms were high quality. The Latham's renovation program is transforming the hotel into a special spot in the heart of Philadelphia's lively center city area. The hotel's proximity to the commercial office building center, great shopping, museums, and music, makes it a great spot for working or pleasure travel.

My friends and I took a road trip last summer, visiting several historical places along the East coast. We ended our trip in Philadelphia for the 4th of July and chose this hotel for its low rate. It was perfect—low rates, even through the 4th of July. Perfect for a bunch of poor, young adults on a road trip. The hotel itself was quite nice. We weren't expecting much for what we paid during such a busy time of the year in downtown Philadelphia, but were pleasantly surprised to find that it was very clean and unique. The hotel was built in 1915, so it had an old-fashioned, yet fancy, kind of feel. The location was great, as we walked mostly everywhere and could easily hop on a bus. The staff was very kind and very accommodating. I have a fear of elevators, so I requested that they put us on the lowest floor possible. They agreed and gave me a room on the second floor and the staff always made sure to unlock the door to the staircase for me whenever I came in.
Overall this hotel was great for the price and made our road trip more comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for something affordable, but with nice quality and different from your every-day cheap hotel.
