My family had a horrible experience with the Best Western Twin Islands after making a last-minute reservation. I don't know for certain that their deception was a deliberate practice, but based on the manager's reaction, I suspect it was.
1. After deciding on a last-minute family trip, I made a 3-day (prepaid) reservation with Best Western Twin Islands the night before for a 2-queen room. Based upon the hotels that had 3-day, 2-queen availability at the last minute, we choose the Twin Islands for its apparent kid-friendly amenities.
2. We arrived the next afternoon to be told at the front desk that our reservation showed as canceled. When the manager was called in to help, she said that they were overbooked and that our reservation had been transferred "across the street" to a separate Best Western property with the same owner. That property had a parking lot instead of a landscaped island, walking path, and playground. The manager was rude, expressed no sympathy, offered no concessions, and said that they had no way to contact us regarding the reservation in advance of our arrival.
4. I went online and checked, and Best Western Twin Islands was still taking reservations for the same overbooked 3-day, 2-queen room we had reserved. At the same time, I could also make the same proffered reservation for the "across the street" replacement property for less money than we had paid for Twin Islands.
5. In the end, we found a nicer property that could accommodate us, and we received a full refund on our Twin Islands reservation through the booking agency.

My wife and I stayed three nights here, looking forward to not having to drive as much due to July fourth! It worked out very well. We got lucky and got a room on the front tip of the island so we had water on both sides of us. The local ducks and their baby's were in abundance. Room service was very good. I forgot a coffee cup and phoned to see about having it mailed back to me which was not a problem for them. Both my wife and I liked the bed very much it was very comfortable! I would recommend this
motel for it's location and service.Prices are average for the holiday seasons.

The hotel is is located on the main strip right next to the aquarium and the main trolley stop. It's is an older hotel but has been maintained very well for its age. Any hotel located in the main down town area will be an older one. After I seen some of the other places I almost booked I was even happier with my choice. Once we arrived and parked we did not drive again the entire trip you do NOT want to try to drive and park in down town.
We really enjoyed the river running right outside our window and the kids liked watching the ducks. The free breakfast was good and more than just cereal. They offered fresh waffles, eggs, biscuits ,sausage gravy and bacon also cold selections.
The thing that stood out the most was the lady that was preparing the breakfast, the day we were leaving gave each of my kids a goodie to go bag with some fruit, muffins and some snakes for our 10 hour trip home. It really nice and thoughtful of her.
