We have been staying at this hotel for the last several years on our way to FL. It is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in.The hotel is about 50 yards from one of the best Golden Corrals we have eaten in. It is located right off interstate 81 and very easy to fill up the tank and get back on the highway. Fern who manages the front desk is great and very friendly. The pool and other facilities are all top notch. The breakfast area is always nice and clean and the food is good. We had a minor problem on one of our many stays and it was corrected immediately. We have recommended this hotel to all our friends. We always ask for a room near the pool, as relaxing in the indoor heated pool is great after a long drive. The Winchester historical section is also very nice to drive through if you have the time.

We chose this hotel because it was half way between NY and NC. The beds are the most comfortable beds we have found in a long time. Ther rooms were clean and the service very friendly. Within walking distance of the Golden Corral. We now stay here each time we travel when we do not have our dog. That is the only negative, they do not accept pets.

My family spent an overnight here twice in two weeks. (Should have cancelled the 2nd reservation...) We were so disappointed! The pool was green and completely cloudy the first time. After we complained and called ahead to be sure it would be clean on our return, it had been cleaned - some- but the next morning it was closed without explanation. There were no towels at the pool.
Several things left me believing they needed a new maintenance staff: the vending machines on all floors were nearly empty, including drink machines; the signage was old and peeling, and some were typed up and taped to walls; the luggage carts were broken apart in places and filthy and duct-taped; the front desk clerk the first night could not get ahold of the maintenance man on the phone; the air conditioner in our room did not "condition;" there were brass containers and trash cans that hadn't seen polish in a long, long time; and there was a fountain that badly needed attention. Seedy is the word that comes to mind.
By contrast, the housekeeping staff seems to have done an excellent job. Everything that they touched was clean and done well, and I made sure to leave them a tip and thank them.
The breakfast was adequate but not extensive: boiled eggs, some sausage (but ran out early and no more put out), some cereal, some muffins, waffles, the usual. Not chincy, exactly, but not as good as I had thought from their site or from a review I had read.
It is still a lovely building, and I do hope they give it a better manager, who will spend some money and invest some interest to make their guests' visits feel classy.
