It took me a little while to locate a hotel location about halfway for a return trip from the northeast back to my East TN home. I wasn't sure about the area, but as it turned out, it was very convenient and had all the amentities one is looking for after a long day's drive. Check in was easy, the hotel was exceptionally clean, quite, and comfortable.

We stayed one night in August, 2011. The hallways and the room had a smoky, musty smell. Turning on the a/c in the room helped somewhat. We noticed torn wallpaper and apparent water damage on the wall near the window. The staff was nice--we had been mistakenly given a smoking room and they immediately changed it to non-smoking. The breakfast was about average. I think I might try another place when in the area. The smell was the thing that bothered me most.

My wife and I took a tour of Harper's Ferry and Shepherdstown, WV over Spring Break. We were looking for a convenient location and good value, and passed over some higher-dollar hotels closer to our destination. Winchester Travelodge had a convenient location off the major highway leading to Harper's Ferry. It is also close to two major eateries, plus a shopping center and grocery. Their "Bear Bites" breakfast is all right, though they recycle uneaten muffins and bagels. Guests also brought their dogs into the dining facility, so I just stuck with packaged oatmeal! Our room had brick walls, which kept out most noise. I would have given it a higher rating, but we got a leaky bathroom sink -- which they offered to fix on our last day! Yet, we had an otherwise clean room, with comfortable mattress and fresh linen.
