Nirvana & Our second home ;)
Sharon -- May 30, 2013 09:53 am
The website was right when it said you would leave like you were family. We loved it. Everyone on staff was great! We like the idea of being able to do what we want, when we want and there was nothing forced at all. The staff was great...fun and very helpful. Thank you to all who made our stay one of the best ever.
I wear my Nirvana shirt with much pride! ;)
We'll be back! Be sure to say hello to everyone from Steve and Sharon and thank you all so very much!!
can't imagine a better choice
Steve -- Mar 24, 2013 12:06 am
The perfect place for a relaxing vacation. Fantastic location, rooms and value. Each more impressive than the last ... and then you meet the staff! Wonderful! They made the entire stay seem so effortless. Errol, Sandra and the crew can make absolutely any arrangements you need, while at the same time keeping that laid back Jamaican atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!
Amy -- Mar 06, 2013 09:37 pm
My husband and I have been to Jamaica several times and Nirvana is by far the best place we have stayed! The staff really made the experience exceptional and they all went out of their way to make sure we were enjoying our vacation! The beauty of the location and grounds is unlike any other we've stayed at in Negril.
Another trip to paradise
Rosemary -- Jul 04, 2012 01:09 pm
We stayed at Nirvana for our 5th time from April 17-May 1, 2012. It was our 30th wedding anniversary.
I cannot say enough about Nirvana, the great location, the beautiful grounds, the friendly, knowledgeable and hard working staff and the incredible beach.
We stay in a two bedroom cottage that has a large fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and living room. It takes about one minute you are on the beach where your chairs will be waiting for you once they know where you like to sit. There are the vendors that come along the beach like the fruit lady, the banana bread man, the patty man and many others. If you don't want anything all you have to do is say no thank you. We came for relaxation and that is exactly what we had with incredible surroundings and people.

nir•va•na / nərˈvänə/
a place or state of oblivion to care, pain, or external reality
a transcendent state in which there is neither suffering, desire, nor sense of self, and the subject is released from the effects there of liberation of the soul from the effects of karma and from bodily existents
Oblivious to care, pain, or external reality is my favorite definition. When you land on the shores of sunny Montego Bay, Jamaica you leave behind your external reality. The only thought you have is how it doesn’t get any better than this! Well, once you take a hour’s ride throughout the scenic countryside and arrive at Nirvana you realize there was so much more to this wonderful Caribbean island.
We stayed in the 3 bedroom cottage complete with an inside AND outside shower. Very Sexy! This would prove to be very exhilarating during our stay! Our property manager was very warm, attentive and informative. She introduced us to the small close-knit staff of grounds keepers and housekeepers and security personnel. This was wonderful because if you are going to live with strangers for 7 days it sure is nice to be familiar with them and them with you.
The property is about 50 paces from the beautiful seven mile beach with all the accoutrements that one seeking to be in a state of bliss could possibly need.
Do yourself a favor go to Jamaica, Stay in NIRVANA! You will want to thank me.
We definitely plan a return stay this fall!!!
Nirvana #1 in my book
rex -- Sep 12, 2011 02:03 am
i never write reviews... but this place was sooo good...i have to. First of all, I was greeted upon arrival (Rocky's is BEST transportation services... BEST..BEST) - the ladies were very pleasant and up-lifting. Big smiles and made me feel welcome (the big resorts are a bad joke+ the food is nasty). Rainbows right next door has amazing good jerk chicken and fish +other good HOME-COOKED food (off subject) We stayed in the owners villa which right on the beach=> UNBEATABLE... the good man Shine was always looking out for us at night time & giving us good advice. Both Shine and the gardener (forgot his name but has a bit of a stutter) are two exceptional people that left lasting impressions and gave me a new found hope in humanity (if you go to Alfred's, beware). Seriously, but all joking aside, I absolutely love EVERYTHING and every PERSON at Nirvana, Negril. We had the time of our lives! 9mile/mayfield/ysfalls/black river safari in that order remember Rocky's 4 best safe reliable transportation.
Sheri -- Jun 29, 2011 08:10 pm
This is a great location for a couple or family wanting to experience the people. It's away from the all-inclusives and close to many restaurants, craft markets, water sports...
I'm conflicted as to whether the staff make the property or if it's the actual property. They are both spectacular!
This was our fourth trip to Jamaica, third to Negril and first to Nirvana. We will always stay at Nirvana from now on. We brought our kids, 17 and 15 who didn't want to leave!
Best Vacation Spot EVER!
Michelle -- May 25, 2011 10:30 am
My now-husband and I were married in Jamaica and spent our Honeymoon week at Nirvana on the Beach - which definitely lives up to its name!! It was a fantastic place to stay, made even more wonderful by the amazing people that work there - all so generous, friendly, and helpful!! The beach is clean and beautiful, you are steps away from restaurants, bars, and only about a 20 min walk to town. The cottages are wonderful - we had a sundeck cottage and it was sheer heaven! And always very clean, even had a radio with a CD/ipod dock, everything we could ask for. What a perfect spot to relax and really enjoy Jamaica. We will for sure be back!! We loved every minute of it!! (and i cried when we left - that never happens!)
The only place to stay when going to Jamaica
Lianne -- May 13, 2011 10:43 pm
“The only place to stay when going to Negril, Jamaica”
We didn't want 5 star. We wanted experience. By far this was the best decision we could have made. Every morning we woke up to "Tillie" delivering fresh Mango, Pineapple, and bananas on on her head to our beachfront, and fresh orange juice from 'the juice guy". Everything you could pretty much want was delivered by the locals for a small price going up and down the beach. You quickly learned their names, and they yours. If there was anything you wanted, just ask "Errol", the day security, or "Shine", the night security, and they would make sure you got the best from the best, including parasailing, snorkelling, etc.. They also would guard your beach to make sure than when you didn't want bothered, you weren't. The best lunches were the Pattys (a meat or veggie pocket) and a red stripe or juice smoothy.
Because we stayed in the owner's villa, we were actually about 24 steps to the ocean from our porch. Again, the shopping could come to you, or you to one of the many shops along the beach. Entertainment was also plentiful with musicians stopping to play you the best of what they knew. If you see "Ali", tip him well. He is going to make it big someday and you will be able to say you met him on the beach at Nirvana!
Rick's Cafe was just a 10 min. drive away with one of our drivers, "Leo", or "Breezy". It being a little touristy was still worth the trip for the experience of watching all the jumpers, and our son Christian being taken under the wing of "Dino the Caveman", who taught him how to climb the cliffs and caves and jump from 35'. For him this experience was priceless. My recommendation would be to walk down the street a bit to eat at one of the other restaurants at a cheaper price. The drivers also knew where to go for whatever your desire. We recommend "Lobster" from Captain Moses's glass bottom boat for your snorkeling adventure. He loves what he does, and is so willing to share the history of the island with the kids. Not to mention his smile will melt your daughter's heart!
There are restaurants all up and down the beach within a 1 minute to a 10 minute walk depending on your pallet. From local Jamaican fare to Italian to American, the beach has it all. If you felt like cooking, one of the drivers would take you to the grocery store about 5 minutes away, as each cottage is fitted with a kitchen. Or it could be arranged for one of the ladies to prepare you and island meal right in your cottage, with you providing the groceries. (Can't get that in an all inclusive)! If you're craving good old pizza, make a right out of the drive onto the road and walk approx. 3/4 of a mile to the Italian cafe on your left. About $8 a pie and truly the best Italian pizza ever. Don't be intimidated by the locals along the way. Yes, they all want to sell you their jerk chicken(which we recommend straight across the road from Nirvana as "the best"), but you will be safe. Just watch traffic closely.
Nirvana is definitely a place to relax, get pampered, experience the island way, and develop everlasting relationships with the precious people that take care of you, if you so choose. If you're ones to keep to yourselves, it will be what you make of it.
We can't say enough about the meticulous housekeeping, Sandra or Doris who make sure everyday that you're happy, or the gardeners Moses 2(who carved me beautiful gourds to use as bowls) and Otis(who can climb a coconut tree with his bare feet to get us a fresh coconut!), and of course, Errol and Shine who made us feel safe and kept us safe. One last thing is that we recommend getting massages at any one of the girls up the beach (before the sunburn)! For $1 a minute they truly do an incredible job. And don't forget the sunblock. 50+ recommend and we still got our tan!
To our family in Jamaica: We love you all and can't imagine never meeting any one of you.
Absolutely the best in everything!
Karen -- Apr 13, 2011 01:07 pm
I've been to Jamaica 4 times and stayed at Nirvana the last 2 visits. I will never stay anywhere else! The best staff, beautiful property and cool cottages. The cottages have great living space with a living room, dining area and full kitchen. When I step out the door, my toes are in the sand, the sun is shining and the breeze is blowing! Come home after a day on the beach and the staff has made a home cooked Jamaican meal at my request! CU next year!
great family trip
kevin -- Apr 11, 2011 05:26 pm
If you like "laid back," then Nirvana is for you, The staff were fantastic. The staff from Leon who picked us up at the airport to Earl who keeps an eye on everything were the best. We have found a spot that we truly hope to visit many more time.. Be sure to pick up some local fish and use the BBQ grill it could have not been better
Nirvana is our paradise!
Wanda -- Mar 28, 2011 04:05 pm
We stayed Feb 19-26th 2011. It was our second time in cottage #2 with the same friends. This place is simply the best. The gardens are amazing and lush, the staff--from the driver, the cleaning and cooking ladies, the maanger, the grounds keepers, to the security are all wonderful!! Smiles on their faces every day, never a worry in the world. We especially appreciate the screened in dining area--no AC needed, it never once got hot. The full kitchen is a huge plus for us and two bathrooms, one inside, one out. We all have our own bedrooms and is the perfect place for our group. I will come back to this place over and over again because it is truly paradise. The fisherman comes in every day with his fresh catch and Nirvana security helps you every step of the way--from vendors to suggestions, to pulling your chairs out each day. I love, love, love this place!
"You come as a Guest and Leave as a Friend"
Jill -- Feb 24, 2011 09:07 am
It is more like you come as a Guest and Leave as Family.
You can go to those all inclusive any where but when you are in Jamaica you need to have the Jamaican experience. There is no place better then Nirvana on the Beach.
The accommodations are great, food vendors on the beach the best and walking distance to all kinds of restaurants and you don't need to even put on your shoes.
It is always so hard to leave but has I was told by David last year, "you need to leave so you can come back" and we will be going back for year 3 in 2012.
Thanks to the entire Nirvana Family for everything.
John and Jill from cold and snowy Southwest Michigan.
quaint, quiet, and gorgeous absolutely perfect

Nirvana made sure that my first time to Jamaica will not be my last. I held some reservation upon arrive but was quickly dispelled upon meeting the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly and attentive to our needs. The grounds were absolutely gorgeous, definitely NOT your run of the mill corporate run resort. Was the absolute perfect place to come relax which is exactly what I needed
Our best vacation

We just spent 2 weeks at Nirvana for our 25th wedding aniversary and wondered why we never did this before. It was our best vacation ever, our 6th time to Jamaica. Forget the all inclusive, with a great place like Nirvana we will be going back as soon as we can. Everything was wonderfull. A truely unique experience. The warm memories will last forever. Cudos to all the Nirvana staff for helping make our 25th a wonderful time!

Nirvana is Heaven on Earth
Jason -- Sep 03, 2010 10:05 am
Nirvana is truly heaven on earth! Located right in the middle of Seven Mile Beach, this hideaway is the perfect location to stay in Negril. Within walking distance to everything on the beach. The staff is super friendly. The driver, Leon, will take you anywhere you want to go, wait for you, and take you back at a good price. The security guards (Errol, Rohan, Shine) are what truly make Nirvana. They will watch your things on the beach, keep the salesmen out of your hair, and get you amazingly low prices on anything you want or need. Book at Nirvana now, you will not be disappointed.
Lynette -- Aug 26, 2010 04:26 pm
My boyfriend and I just returned from Nirvana. The expression "no problem" totally describes our vacation. Check in did not exist, we were just escorted to our cottage and shown around. It was really easy breezy. Outstanding staff, extremely helpful, and attentive to our any and every need. Leon, our driver even picked up some Pepto from the pharmacy for us when he took other guests into town. The cottages are rustic and charming. Ceiling fans and being totally screened in kept it nice and cool at night.
If you get the opportunity, definitely give it a try. No tvs, no phones, no problem!
A slice of heaven
Pam -- Apr 27, 2010 04:54 pm
We stayed in the veranda suite in mid march. Nirvana exceed our expectations. It was the best vacation we ever had. The staff was magnificent, from Doris the manager, Leon our Driver, Security Errol,Shine & Nicardo, Moses and his garden crew and the House keeping staff. The location was perfect, the sunsets cannot be beat. The grounds were beautiful. I could go on and on. Hats off to everyone at Nirvana you really make the place!! We will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversay and plan on being back next year.
Perfection in Negril!!!
Katie -- Apr 19, 2010 11:04 pm
We had a FANTASTIC experience at Nirvana. We honestly could not have picked a better place to vacation and experience Negril. The sundeck suite was perfect - proximity to the water, well-maintained, great amount of space for us, and we loved the landscaping/layout so that we didn't feel like we were staying at the same place with many other people. The staff was fantastic - Leon was terrific, the daytime security guard was so kind and helpful, and Doris was a great resource as well. We felt safe and well taken-care of. We could really tell that everyone who worked there cared about their role - from housekeeping to the grounds maintenance man. We especially loved how "private" the beach felt, and didn't feel harassed by solicitors or as if we had to compete for beach or water space. We also loved the access to the rafts, kayaks, etc. All in all, it was the perfect choice. We will DEFINITELY be back!!
Simply the Best
Debbie -- Jan 05, 2010 04:18 am
Look no further for the best spot in Negril! We stayed in a cottage the first night, and one of the verandah suites for the rest of the week, and both were beautifully decorated and had everything you could possibly need in the kitchens. The grounds are lovingly landscaped, with plenty of shade, should you feel the need to escape the sun. But the real asset at Nirvana is the staff. They are absolutely outstanding. Errol keeps any unwanted vendors at bay on the beach and – after I took a canoe out one morning – made sure it was ready and waiting for me every morning thereafter, without being asked. Shine patrols the grounds all night long and even provides a wake-up service for guests crazy enough to want to get up at 3 am to participate in the Reggae Marathon! It was our first stay, and we wouldn’t contemplate staying anywhere else on our next trip.
A true dream vacation
Angela -- Nov 09, 2009 10:42 am
Staying at Nirvana was the best dream vacation ever; On arrival we were greeted by Shine the night security guard (I call him Ninja!! he is always there in the shadows watching over you even when you don't see him he is there) He showed us such wonderful hospitality from the get go. The housekeepers were the same, (thank you Ms. Doris) they were always friendly always smiling always trying to please. Errol is the day time security and he is super duper special. He protected us from the peddlers on the outside of Nirvana and would not allow anyone to take advantage of us. Because of this I knew that I could relax and not worry about the dangers that could be lurking out there on the beach. The staff made our family reunion perfect; By the end of the trip it felt like both Errol, and Shine had become one of brothers. They are truly special people. Also, whilst staying at Nirvana, I met a beautiful young lady by the name of Connie who is a massage therapist as well as someone that braids hair. Was she good? Boy! It was the best massage both my sisters and I have had - you better believe it! (I am a massuese myself so I know what's real and whats fake)Her hair braiding is at a very reasonable cost she braided mine and my sisters and a few other guests. I would reccommend her to anyone. My siste got sun burnt and one of brothers had a slight mishap and she new what to do and what leaves t pick to soothe their ailments. Although she did not come with the resort, you can find her along the beach area -(perhaps Lonnie and Stan will see to it that she can be available to their guests on a regular basis-she's worth it!!) You are surrounded by resturants if you do not feel like cooking, the supermarket for grocery shopping is nearby, including banks, money exchange, pharmacy and the craft markets.
I cannot emphasize enough about this place. Definitely a winner. Special hugs to Moses, the groundsman what a beautiful job he does on the landscaping :) Feel like drinking the milk of the coconut, talk with Moses, he'll climb the tree, pick it for you, and prepare it! I cant wait to go back which will be in 6 months -see you all then,
Lots of hugs and kisses to you all on Nirvana, thanks for everything. Stay blessed until we meet again.
Nirvana was awesome!
Tanisha -- Sep 28, 2009 07:25 pm
Nirvana was excellent! We traveled in a group of six and everyone of us thought that the staff was friendly and nice, the grounds were well kept and most of all we all felt safe and secure. Safe to the point where we were able to walk around the premises with our doors unlocked. The location also worked well for us because it was close enough to everything that we wanted to do in Negril. I would recommend Nirvanna to any and everyone! The next time I plan to go to Negril I will definitely be staying at Nirvana!!! Until then....

Ssssshhh...don't tell anyone about this place!
Yvette -- Jul 10, 2009 11:55 am
Length of stay: June 24th-29th 2009...This place is amazing! Lush tropical grounds...cottatge #2 provided comfortable accommodations that exceeded our expectations...the most awesome beachfront property in Negril! The staff is gracious and accommodating, security (Errol & 'Shine') were outstanding...anything we wanted, needed or had questions about were handled expeditiously. My family, friends and I will be back in a few months for a longer stay! Everything you need is right there at Nirvana Negril!
Paradise on the beach
Rosemary -- May 20, 2009 02:26 pm
We spent two weeks from April 12-26, 2009. This was our second year staying at Nirvanna. It felt like home knowing where to go and all of the staff. It is paradise. The grounds are beautiful, all the staff are very helpful. We stay in Cabin 5 and found it very comfortable and spacious. Complete relaxation and we will be coming back for many years to come.
Heather -- May 02, 2009 12:59 pm
We had the best honeymoon ever. We loved every minute of our stay. The staff is amazing and very helpful. The Sundeck Suite was fantastic. I will stay there again any time we come back. Which we will!!! We have done the fancy all inclusive mega resorts before but this was so much better. We loved being able to enjoy the local food or cook for ourselves in a relaxed atmosphere. The best part of the beach by far is at Nirvana. My husband and I walked most of the beach and we were pleased that our little find was the best on the beach. Some of the other places were located right next to loud clubs or bars but Nirvana is perfectly located in a quiet and stunning area of the beach. No rocks or jagged coral here. Plus the water was so calm we could actually get in it which was unlike some of our experiences with Mexico. Not one complaint this is truly a pefect beach location and as long as they keep it just the way it is we will be back again and again.
A TRUE vacation
Julie -- Apr 22, 2009 07:04 pm
We had a group of 4 40 somethings and a one 9 year old all in one cabin and it was a BLAST! The beach is the best- access to anything you could ever dream of- and the most calm, warm water I have seen. The grounds are beautiful, and the staff is great. We were safe and totally cared for the whole time. This is not LUXURY- it's NIRVANA. This is the second time we have been here and guess what- we'll be back next year FOR SURE!
Everything we hoped for and more
Brenda -- Mar 22, 2009 10:48 pm
We had a group of 22 people, occupying 5 cabins, during spring break week 2009. The entire staff is wonderful and bent over backward to make sure we were happy with everything. We lost power for several hours twice, as did everyone else in the vicinity, but Shine made sure we had lanterns and candles. The only other complaint I heard was that one person's bed was too hard. Mine was just great though so I guess it depends on what a person is used to and can tolerate. If you are looking for a luxury resort, stay at Beaches. If you are looking for a laid back, no frills vacation, this is the place for you. I spent a day at Beaches. Too many uppity people.... very busy place. Nirvana is comfortable, quiet, close to many bars, restaurants, and shopping areas, and we always felt safe and secure. Drivers were available any time we wanted to go anywhere and their prices were reasonable. We would definitely stay here again.
Nirvana, what a gem!
Jenny -- Mar 10, 2009 09:34 pm
My family of four spent a week at Nirvana in March 2009. We absolutely LOVED every minute of it. The staff is absolutely amazing and made our trip one that we will treasure forever. We loved the location and enjoyed heading in both directions up the beach. The beach in front of Nirvana is the best that we could find. We will absolutely stay at Nirvana again should we ever return to Negril.
Awesome Getaway Place!!

Nirvana, WOW, beyond our expectations.
Dave -- Apr 19, 2008 03:18 pm
WOW, beyond our expectations. Although we did have high ones....the stay was that and yet some. The staff, the food, the cottage, the grounds, the beach, all super. The cabin setting was perfect, the gals were very helpful in every respect, from cleaning to cooking and the extra touch. A big thanks to the security, they all topped off our comfort zone with giving us the feeling off that home away from home feeling. Moses, Desmond, Earl, Shine and the rest were the perfect choice to have within the borders of the beautiful well kept grounds. We brought a few extras to share with the staff in showing our gratitude, which was acepted really well and in turn they shared their wisdom and experience with us.
Yes, we are seriously planning our next stay with you in the near future and will continue to share our positive feelings with all our friends.
"thanks so much for sharing your paradise with us".
the FULL Jamaican experience @ Nirvana
-- Jan 01, 2008 04:52 pm
We had a fabulous stay at Nirvana!!!...we thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmopshere and found the staff very friendly and quite helpful. You have an excellent thing going on there!!! We will definitely be back. We checked out the 2 bdrm cottage with Ziggy because we would like to bring other folks along with us next time. Who knows, maybe even a group of people. We loved our room and we would definitely stay there again and would also like to check out a few of the other places. Like your suite...it looks lovely!!
My husband and I are not the "resort" type of people and when we visit a country, we want to SEE the country and not just be stuck on a resort. We felt right at home at Nirvana and thoroughly enjoyed the tranquil and peaceful surroundings. We love that you have kept the traditional feel of the island as well. It made us feel like we were getting the FULL jamaican experience.
Perfect beach! Accommodating Staff! Great Value!
Sissy -- Nov 13, 2007 09:34 am
My husband and I just returned from a wonderful and relaxing experience at Nirvana. We cannot say enough positive things about their staff (extremely courteous, accommodating and willing to go above and beyond to make our stay comfortable). The beach is large and private; the cottages are cozy, laid-back and rustic (the way the "old Negril" used to be); the location is accessible to everything. I have been coming to Jamaica since my college days in the 70s and recommend Nirvana as the best overall value for the price.
