Had an oceanfront room with a kingside bed. Only stayed for one night but totally loved my stay. Everything was great including the front desk personnel and restaurant staff. Will definitely return in spite of the room price.

The Hilton Garden Inn was a great spot. Located on the beach and near the pier. It has a restaurant, bar, pool. We barely left the hotel because it had everything we needed. Great for short stay, nightly rates are higher than your typical Garden Inn, but it is the OBX.

Don't get me wrong, this is a nice hotel, but the price is comparable to what you would pay for a true resort hotel at the beach. (Check Charleston rates, for example) No real restaurant, although there is a grill for breakfast and lunch. Check in will remind you more of a chain motel on the highway than a resort location. Small shop for sundries, but no real gift shop. Beach access is off the fishing pier, and the beach is OK, but not the best of the Outer Banks. I would stay there again simply because the summer options at OBX are limited, with mostly mom and pop motels, home rentals and B&Bs, so you stay where you can. One plus is the location, essentially in the center of OBX, so you can make day trips north or south and see the entire length from Corolla to Ocracoke. Rooms are spacious and some overlook the ocean.

Although the hotel was fully booked for Spring Break, the management realized prior to our arrival that our assigned room had a plumbing problem, so they upgraded us to a spa suite at no extra charge. The staff was friendly and helpful, gave excellent dinner suggestions, and made our stay very enjoyable. It was considered "off season" so the room rate was also very reasonable. Too cold for the pool or the beach, but absolutely stunning scenery.

This hotel was ok for what we wanted. We needed a place for just a couple of days at the end of our stay in the Outer Banks and pretty much everything was full. It was close to what we wanted to see and do those last couple of days but it was pretty expensive for just a place to lay our heads which is basically all we needed it for.
