The staff at the front desk were the warmest I've ever encountered at a hotel.

We've stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions while visitng Suffolk and love the atmosphere in and around the hotel. A few things need to be addressed though: slippery bathtub, I had to put a towel down in the tub so as not to slip while showering. This could be a safety hazard. The snack menu: states there are ice cream treats for your enjoyment, but the four nights we stayed, there was no ice cream or any frozen treats. We were told the freezer was out of service and that there were no plans to replace it. THIS needs to be rectified. We have children with us and those treats mean a lot late at night! Chlorine in the pool: extremely high levels of chlorine caused us to get out of the pool earlier than we wanted. We undertstand the chlorine is for sanitation, but the levels are much to strong for young children to swim for long periods. The pool room is clean, but extremely hot. There could be more ventilation. We truly love staying here and hope that some of our concerns are addressed before we go back to VA.

I have stayed here several times in the past on business, and always have been well pleased. This is a large hotel and looks like a Plantation Home. Rooms have always been quiet and comfortable, with plenty of hot water. Staff at check-in or to give directions have always been friendly and helpful. Rooms have micro & fridge. Beds are excellent quality. I would have preferred a little firmer pillow. RESTAURANT IS SUPERB! This is definitely worth the visit. Dining at night is semi-casual. You will be hard pressed to find better dining in Norfolk 30 miles away. Breakfast has continental and full buffet, your choice.
Hotel has a conference center attached, and I was pleased with the two meetings my employer held there.
