I was pleasantly surprised when I stayed here 3 nights in mid-May 2012. I have been to Santa Fe more than ten times, and stayed in a wide range of hotels and motels. First, understand that King's Rest is a budget motel built on one story facing a central courtyard. Therefore, the main drawback to this motel is that there is no view from the windows-- front view is of the cement courtyard; back view is of the wall of the next building. However, other than that negative, the room was pleasant, spacious, very clean, and well equipped. There was both a bedroom (suprisingly comfortable queen bed) and a large dressing/desk room-- with a robustly cold refrigerator, long counters, desk surface, large mirror, two chairs, etc, with a nice sized window for light and ventilation. Excellent very large flat screen TV with cable in the bedroom. Good heat and air conditioning. Very clean bathroom-- large shower. Water has to run a minute before it gets hot. Good lighting throughout. Pleasant owners.
I had stayed here 10 years before, and though impressed with the size of the rooms then, it was rather run down and I had not felt so safe. This time, I can see they have really brought this property up to par-- everything worked well, everything was very clean, like new TV and fridge, and security had been improved, so as a single woman I felt very comfortable.
This motel is on Cerillos Road-- but it is one of the closest motels to downtown on Cerillos. I would not consider it to be walking distance, though some would. There is a Whole Foods grocery nearby. If you plan to be mainly out of the room seeing and doing things--this is the perfect motel-- this is about the lowest price you're going to find in Santa Fe and it is a comfortable retreat at night.

I liked this motel for it's location. We were attending a concert nearby. It is not the most modern, but it is clean and quiet.
We even had a covered parking spot right next to the room.
It is also walking distance to a wonderful Asian noodle restaurant.

As you can see I rate this Inn highly. The cost, particularly when compared to others in the area, was very reasonable. The layout is interesting and an example of old Santa Fe.
The room was very clean and comfortable, unusual heating system that worked, not far from the famous old Santa Fe square, and friendly service available.

I looked at the Kings Rest on line. The hotel is like the hotels in the 1950's. However, the room was very large, with a flatscreen tv, a mini frig and a coffepot. It was clean, no frills, and had a covered carport. We asked for a room near the back so it was not noisy. Every day the beds were made and the room cleaned.
There is also a great breakfast place right down the road.

This little hotel is a good, inexpensive place to stay. There are no frills, however, the room was very clean, there is a small fridge and a coffepot to make coffe or tea. The coffee is replaced each day.
The flatscreen tv was great.
The bed is kingsize, pretty comfortable. I would recommend to stay in the back units. We could not hear ay traffic between 11 PM and 7 AM basically. I would ask for extra pillows since the pillows are not large.
Another great plus about the hotel is the location. It is very near downtown Santa Fe.
Teculote , the breakfast place down the street is very well known.
