Dated and musty. The bed was comfortable but the chair in my room was stained and dirty. The hall had stained and torn carpeting. The bath cabinet needed an upgrade.

Nothing to write home about, but the room was clean and comfortable. Restaurant was run by one person, but she was very competent. Ribeyes were fairly well seasoned. Old wetsern actors, James Arness, John Wayne, Jack Elam, Sam Elliot had slept there in the past, and doors had wooden placards saying so. My dad got a kick out of that trivia.

After reading a few of the reviews, we were concerned that the hotel would be less than average. We had a wonderful, clean, inviting room with comfortable beds and all the necessities. I did notice that there are some renovations being done at the hotel and I think they are trying to bring it up to way above average. I'd definitely give them a chance if you are passing through to go to the Royal Gorge and surrounding area.

dirty..dirty First the positive...staff was great , they let me trade a dirty room for a less dirty room. lobby fooled me. It was nice, but I knew we were in for an adventure after check in. hallways were full of stale cigarette smoke even in the non smoking section. rooms did not have smoking odors, just the halls. the hall carpets were taped together and the breakfast room had ripped carpet. The breakfast staff server was nice and friendly. Our rooms had old worn out furniture, except for the beds. velvet chairs were devoid of velvet pile. bathroom was dirty with hair in tub and floor. toilet paper wall hanger came out of wall. I am having a family event in August and booking 10 rooms at another hotel.
