Motel is away from any other hotels, it is in a nice residential area. Owner was nice and very helpful. The room.....was a nice size room but it is a old motel. The room was clean, except we kept seeing bugs.....my niece pulled back the top comforter of her bed and we found a tick on the under side of the comforter! A spider, moth, and a dead beetle in the corner were found. There was only one flimsy lock on the door and no security chain lock. We did not feel safe in this room and kept wonder what other bugs we where going to encounter during the night.

Left on vacation Dec. 13, 2006, without reservations in order to drive as far as possible across Kansas. Reached Abilene and pulled out AAA book to find a motel. Weren't impressed by Super 8 just off I-70, decided to check out Diamond Motel. Glad we did. Owner was friendly and helpful, and AAA discount rate was a bargain for a family of four. Room was spacious, clean, and quiet with a fridge and a modest but adequate breakfast in the morning. Slept soundly, in fact slept later than intended. Kids got a kick out of "Clean birds here" sign on shed (for pheasant hunters). There is no pool, but that's no big deal in Kansas in December. We will definitely stay there again, and I recommend it to families who want some peace and quiet off the interstate and about a mile from Abilene attractions
