If it wasn't for the beach, I wouldn't recommend. The rooms were dated but they were clean. Everything was painted a neon yellow with brown tile, not sure what look they were going after. The beds were small and uncomfortable. The spreads were cheap nylon that kept sliding off. The bathroom was small and the shower head were so loud you could hear them from the outside. Breakfast was decent and the pool and beach were great. Everything in this hotel was dated from the 60's. Oh, and read the fine print, they charge an extra $7/night "resort" fee. I couldn't find the resort all weekend.
Great staff, breakfast, beach& town. Rooms are older & basic

Thought we reserved a condo but turned out to be just a room. Staff did move us to a nicer condo unit though.
Room on first floor had musty odor from previous flooding.
We stayed on second floor which was odor free.
New section may be much nicer.

This hotel has probably the best location of any I have ever stayed in. It is a very old hotel and is showing its age. For the price the location is definitely the best you'll find. The rooms leave much to be desired....old bed linens, old couches, old furniture, used towels, dingy carpet, shabby TV. The room was as clean as the conditions allow it to look and feel. We had a room with a pool view, the windows did not open to get in fresh air or hear the surf. Our key also did not work in the door and we had to use the hotels master key to get in and our of our room. We had a drink and the bar but did not eat at the attached restaurant/cafe. All-n-all we were extremely happy with the location and the beach, much nicer then close by Myrtle Beach! It fit our budget at the time but if visiting again we would save a little more and find a more comfortable hotel in the same area.

Recently my husband and I took our first trip to the Atlantic beaches - and we were pleasantly surprised at how "walkable" they are having been Gulf Coast vacationers before. Litchfield is quite, and this is about the only non-rental house around. A little "retro" - nothing fancy, but nice views and a good choice.
The only day the beach was crowded was on July 4 - otherwise you felt like you were at an exclusive resort. Public beach acess is nearby so other folks do drift in, but not a problem. Dogs are allowed on the beach, wow! We saw several great, well-mannered pooches and missed our own vowing to try and bring her one day.
The linens are clean but not luxurious, the bed fine but not what you would encounter at a Hilton or luxury resort. The pools are small and crowded, all the time - luckily the beach is right there.
Rooms have no carpet (sand control, I guess). Our room's deck had Adirondack chairs which were great, we noticed from the beach this is not the norm.
The restaurant does not offer breakfast (weird), but did enjoy a wonderful, scenic dinner but it was expensive ($* for two cocktails and dinner after tip).
Elevators were slow, and our only real complaint with the place was not enough luggage stands for check-in and check-out and, in our opinion, really poor behavior of a maid who blocked the elevator on her floor for at least 5 minutes. We were trying to load in to our room on the 7th floor, and my husband found her doing this on the 3rd floor. There's only one elevator for the tower. We relayed this to the maintenance man we saw nearby and it didn't happen again.
