The first room we checked into had cigarette burns everywhere. It smelled so gross. BUT the staff was nice enough to let us change rooms. The second room was very dark. One thing we did not like was at night you had to be buzzed OUT of the hotel, which we found unnecessary, we did not mind being buzzed IN that's safe, but we were scared that if anything would have happened we would have not been let out. Scary a bit. Over all though it was cheap and when you pay less you expect to get less.

We stayed here because it was the only thing under $* a night during Jazz Fest we could easily find. We got to our room by way of the slow, hot elevator, down a garbage bag/bed sheet lined hallway. Even if cleaning, this is a bad impression. In our room, the bathroom door was kicked in - fist-sized hole though the front, 9-inch crack radiating from the door knob and various other punctures and cracks. Luckily it would stay closed. The toilet seat was intact but would slide around when you sat on it. There was some sort of reddish goo splatter on the wall behind the door. Basically like having a gas station toilet right in your own room! Generally, the room looked like it needed to be gutted and installed with new everything. The bed was usable but the support struts stuck out on one side because the corresponding one on the other was missing. The carpet had two patterns, the original printed one and the one formed by the amazing stains of various colors (including texture and stickiness). Playing the kids' game of pretending the floor was made of lava and to be avoided at all costs seemed the best strategy. The so-called high-speed internet connection would not work - after finally finding the socket behind the bed (very scary probing behind that) - the connection would never work. "But you can just use the WiFi connection on the first floor" - like that is good substitute for the advertised in-room connection. Most of the staff were nice but some were less than helpful (in the late night). I am resubmitting this review - this and several other scathing reviews have been deleted for some reason.

This hotel is a disgrace to New Orleans. We stayed during the Jazz Festival weekend and only by the grace of God was able to find a different hotel. The staff have no clue as to what makes a good hotel...or based on the other reviews they dont care. My suggestion is that they be removed from options of places to stay in New Orleans because they cheapen any travel site that would offer them as an option. No guests after 7? Rusted bathroom doors? Air conditioning units sitting on 2 by 4s. Deposit to use an iron? Perhaps they think that the stupid American will settle for these accomodations but I would have rather slept in my car if I had to. They should not be allowed to use the word America in their title.
