The hotel, which no longer carries the Hard Rock banner, is very nice.  The only negatives were a bizarre shower control and a poor location.  The hotel is located quite a long distance from all of what Albuquerque has to offer.

The Hotel was dirty and the overall condition of the rooms was poor. The furniture in the room was uncomfortable and the TV had only 12 working channels and would occasionally shut off or go back to the previous channel. There was no refrigerator or microwave in the rooms. The keycards were needed for the elevator and for getting into the rooms, the staff advised us upon arrival to keep the keycards away from cell phones or they would stop working. We had to get the keycards reactivated daily for use in the elevators. We went to the main desk for a toothbrush and were told that there were none available but could purchase one from the convience store in the lobby. Not a good experience, won't stay there again.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a three nght anniversary get-away from the north Houston area. It was a bit south of town, but still very convenient to see things in Albuquerque and to get on the freeway to head north to Santa Fe. The casino was separated from the rooms so we didn't have any smoke issues at all. The bathroom was perfect because the toilet was separated in its own little room with a pocket door. The bed was very comfortable. Room service was very good, and it is the same menu/food served in one of the smaller restaurants. We ate at Embers, the steak house above the casino. There was an hour wait without a reservation, but we were able to get a seat at the bar immediately and we enjoyed a very well prepared and flavorful meal and drinks. Overall, there was a good selection of food throughout the hotel. The casino seemed just fine, though oddly enough, we didn't gamble. The only down side to the stay was that the walls are quite thin and we were awaken two nights by neighbors. The second night, I called the front desk, they immediately sent security to the room next door, and the problem was resolved. The hotel, its service, and its location were perfect for our quick retreat to sight-see and relax.
