Quick -- before it's gone Janet -- Mar 24, 2010 10:30 pm I understand Golden Lodge Backpackers was quite recently renovated to serve as a boutique hotel, but is currently being used as a backpackers' lodge. Who knows how long it will stay in the budget class, but my advice to travellers passing through Nelson is to check it out while you still can. It's a beauty! Exceptional architecture, really stunning views, antique furniture and state-of-the-art appliances in the clean, well-stocked communal kitchen. Claw foot bathtub. Romantic master bedroom. Nice outdoor eating area. Free laundry. It just doesn't get any better than this. Well run and with free internet. It all adds up to a fabulous and very beautiful bargain. I loved it here! One wee problem -- off-street parking is limited and can be tricky negotiating. Worth it, though. |
