New Year's Eve under the Northern Lights Matt -- Feb 07, 2011 03:50 pm My girlfriend and I visited Bettles Lodge on New Year’s Eve and we had a wonderful timing meeting the staff, chatting with other guests from around the world and exploring the surrounding village. When we landed in Bettles we were greeted by a wonderful staff and were settled into the cozy lodge very quickly. We were served an excellent lunch and then went out to watch the dog sled mushers hook up their team and take eager people out for a ride. That night we ate an amazing crab dinner and followed that up by watching an exciting fireworks display next to a warm bonfire under the Northern Lights. This was my first experience seeing the Northern Lights and I was more than thrilled by the display that night. I took several wonderful shots with my new camera and I loved sharing photography tips and secrets with other photographers that were there to capture the natural wonder. The scenery was amazing everywhere you turned, it was a photographer’s paradise. The light in Alaska just can’t be beat! I am looking forward to returning to Bettles Lodge spring or summer! The lodge was very cute and cozy, and had there were many activities that were available to anybody looking for a real Alaskan adventure! P.S.- The jacuzzi tub was AMAZING after a chilly night out under the stars! |
