This place was amazing! My wife and I went for our anniversary and had a wonderful time. Service, staff and cleanliness were great. Cost was what I was really amazed with. We ate several times across the resort at Port Lucayan Market and their prices were comparable to the states. We also charges breakfast, lunch and drinks to our room for the 6 days we were on the island and our room tab was still only 520 bucks. I don't care where you go, when you only spent 100 per day at a resort it is reasonable. Would recommend to anyone wanting to take a family or romantic vacation to look at this for affordable fun in the sun!!! Enjoy because we did and will be back soon!!!

  • The hotel itself is greatly situated.

The service at the front desk was HORRIBLE. We attempted to check in at 1145 AM and had to stay in line for 90 minutes. WE finally checked in at 115 PM but had to leave and come back after 3 PM because the room was not cleaned / prepared. The manager, Ms. Cartwright did not make any attempt to make her guests comfortable at all (No Refreshments, entertainments etc..) The housekeepers did a great job cleaning the rooms and common areas. The door persons were very friendly and helpfull. The desk persons need to be more active in doing their job, may be a little training would probably help. Thank you!

I arrived at the Granf Lucayan ready for a wonderful honeymoon. Upon check the staff tried to charge more stateing that my husband was not included in the reservation, after me insisting they realized it was their error. I walk into our room and the AC was not working, the room smelled like someone urined all over it and the next morning the floor had no hot water to shower. I requested a room change. The next day I realized I had forgotten my flip flops in the old room so I asked the front desk to check of course no one found it. What else... Lets see. Ahhh small blood stains in white sheets, blow dryer that didnt work, and much more. Do not recommend.

First thing first, I traveled alone and everyone was very kind, helpful and nice. I a had oceanfront and was able to lay in my bed and see the beautiful ocean, now how nice is that!!!! The bands were really nice, they even played out in the pouring rain, WOW!!!! The Grand Lucayan Resort is the best one on that island. All of the pools are nice and the property is well landscaped. The food and drinks are very affordable.

I always like checking reviews before choosing a hotel, so I thought I'd give my 2 cents on the Radisson (Grand Lucayan) Grand Bahama. Summary: A great place to relax. Not a party place (go to Nassau), not an all-inclusive, not for kids. A place for couples to relax. Beach - 5 stars, soft sand, blue water, no rocks, little seaweed. They rake all of it every morning. Just perfect. Sunrise over the water every morning. No sunsets over the water. Pool - 4 stars, well-maintained, swim up bar. no slides. 1 hot tub. Food - 2 stars, just bad food. Go across the street to the Port Lucaya Marketplace, there's stores and restaurants, and is really the heart of the island. Breakfast - there's a $12 breakfast buffet, all-American, you can get better food at a Hampton Inn for free There's also a coffee shop with muffins, egg sandwiches also Lunch - only available at the pool, burgers, hot dogs, again go across the street Dinner - Chinese food on the beach. Really? I did not go to the Bahamas to have Chinese food. The steakhouse on their website has been closed for 3 years. Also, a 15% tip is automatically added to all food purchases. Where to eat - Across the street in the market Good - Sobar (sunsets), Zorba (Greek), Le Med, Unexso Bad - After Deck (horrible), Agave (better food at Taco Bell) Rooms - Clean and basic. No bugs, good bed, free wi-fi (slow bandwith), NO CLOSET. There is an armoir with a small closet (length of my forearm), 2 small drawers, small TV, and a fridge. Elevators - you will wait. only 2 out of 4 working for the entire hotel Service - 2 stars. They will 'yes' you forever. Ask for something and they'll say 'Yes! of course!', but they won't do it. Very pleasant, but nothing accomplished. Excursions - There's parasailing, jetski, boating, etc on the beach (not-included). The dolphin group Unexso is awesome. The island kayak, snorkel, etc tours are great. Very well done and organized. Shopping - Port Lucaya (across the street) has all your shops. Do NOT go to the International Bazaar. It's on all the maps, but it is a ghost town. An abandoned area of crumbling buildings and shadows. Versace, Gucci, they all were there, but have jumped ship. Economy - Destroyed in 2004 by 2 hurricanes, which moved the focus of the island from its capital (Freeport) to Port Lucaya (where this resort is). They are struggling (compared with Nassau), but it is safe. We never felt in danger at anytime. This is also reflected at the Radisson, where there are 4 hotel buildings, but only 1 is being used. They just don't have enough people staying. Therefore, those pools are not open either (the slide on the website is not open) Gym/Spa - 4 stars. Looks very nice, but is on the other side of the resort, a good 15 minute walk. Final summary: The perfect place to escape to a beautiful beach and relax. Not to party, not for your kids. No Caribbean history (island practically settled in the 1960s). But if you want to stare at blue waters in peace and quiet, it works.
