I read the reviews and decided to take a change and I am glad we did. I called to make reservations and the person taking my reservation was professional and helpful. She even told me a cute joke when she waited for the computer to tell her what was available. I came to Muskegon on business and brought my wife with me. The area was older and some buildings were closed up. The hotel is an older hotel however, it is undergoing a major renovation. We had a great room. The room was fresh, clean and inviting. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed watching TV on a flat screen TV. The employees were very friendly and helpful. They called us to ask us if our room was OK and if there was anything we needed. The pool is on the smaller side and it also has a nice hottub. We noticed they were installing a pool lift which assists people who have a disability use the pool or hottub. The breakfast was exactly what they advertized which was a continental breakfast: bagels, muffins, cereal, oatmeal, juices, and fruit. We will be back to this hotel and we recommend it to anyone.

I should have turned around when i pulled into the parking lot. The neighborhood looked really run down and so did the hotel. The receptionist was really friendly but that is the only pro about this Red Roof. I have stayed at several RR inns before and I mistakenly thought that this would be decent but I was wrong. My family reserved 3 rooms and we had to switch several times because the rooms reeked of cigarette smoke or the lock was broken in one. In addition, check in was at 3 pm (inconvenient) and they still hadn't cleaned my room! The carpets were dingy, there was no shampoo, and air condition was turned completely off when I entered. One of the rooms had a blood stained matress (no kidding!) and the other matresses just looked bad. I had to apologize profusely to my family for booking this roach motel. Never again! Not to mention, the swimming pool is about the size of a bath tub.

The desk staff is superb. They wanted to be sure our stay was a pleasurable one. After mentioning a couple defects found in our room, they offered a new room to meet our expectations. At check-out they made sure we had been pleased with our stay. A wonderful desk staff - I should have written down their names!

I stayed here just one night so me and the kids could wake up and go to michigan adventures well yes it is very close to the park but if you want to wake up refreshed thats not what you are getting, i couldnt sleep because the beds were horrible and tiny. I put the kids on the floor and when I was cleaning up the next morning I found a mouse trap and mouse poop all over under the bed. The pool was the size of an oversived hot tub. the breakfast was bagels cereal. the smell throughout the hotel was musty and old. the front desk person took 20 min to sign two people in because the phone kept ringing and she never once said hold on one second i will be right with you.You get what you pay for but I would tell anyone go somewhere else and dont waste your time here. spend a little more and stay somewhere nicer!!!

We went here after staying at Michigan Adventures and many hotels in the area were already booked. The room was dirty. I had dried something on the bed spread. The heater didn't work, there was hair in the tub when I arrived. The walls were so thin that we could hear a conversation in the next room when the tv was off in our room. The breakfast was stale, the juice machine did not work, so we went to a nearby take out place. There was running in the hallways all night, banging all night and the people next to us were constantly trying to open the ajoining door to our rooms (don't know who they were) at night so it was scary.
