Sutter Creek is centrally located for the Mother Lode of the Sierra Foothills. Within minutes are numerous Gold Rush Historic sites and state parks like ChawSe Indian Grinding Rocks, while 25 miles to the north is Coloma, the site of James Marshall's discovery of gold, at Sutter's mill.
With mountain rivers forming the north and south boundaries of Amador County, and numerous lakes, both natural and manmade, excellent fishing can be found by either driving or hiking to your chosen site. If your sport is golf, then visit one of the champion courses in the area.
Today's "gold" can be found amongst the many family owned wineries, where quality wines and friendly atmosphere are in abundance, or in the mirad of antique and collectibles stores, where treasures await to be discovered.
