If you are interested in the more adventurous pursuit of canoeing and kayaking, you'll enjoy the Saugeen. There are events on a regular basis, weekly activities, fishing, golf, outdoor concerts, art, history, classic cars, shopping, tennis, old fashioned market and much, much more. You'll find a real steam train in Port Elgin. This miniature 24 gauge steam engine and cars take you for a one mile ride along the waterfront. Enjoy the Flea Market and Beach Carnivals, an Historical walking tour, and cycling tours. Sauble Beach, with it's attractions for the kids is just down the road.The Bruce County Museum & Archives, and the Southampton Art school are things to see. A short walk or bike ride from the park will bring you to the Mighty Niagara River, home of spectacular vistas, awesome jet boat rides and some of the best freshwater sports fishing in North America. A 36mile long paved bike / hiking trail goes right by the front of the park. Going north 7 miles on the trail will bring you to historic NiagaraontheLake. This picturesque town is famous for its turn of the century buildings, horse drawn coaches, antiques, fine restaurants and the Shaw Festival Theater. There is also a fort dating back to the War of 1812 that can be visited, along with a cruise on a restored steamboat. If a round or two of golf is on your agenda, there are 16 golf courses within a 30minute drive from the park. Hospital, banking and groceries are all available close by. Niagara Falls economical and efficient bus system, the "People Mover" will take you to all of the major attractions, completely hassle free.
