Only Black HeritageTour in Costa Rica. Join in Costa Rica's annual Black celebration on the Caribbean coast and enjoy an ocean resort , gardens and rainforest. Annual group tour on August 27September 2, 2008.

Day 1 Arrive in San Jose, Costa Rica. Guided Transfer by motorcoach to your mountain lodge in Santa Cruz de Turrialba, 90 minutes east of San Jose. On he way, stop at the Basilica in Cartago to see a statue of Costa Rica's patron saint, La Virgen de los Angeles, and the faithful who walk on their knees to ask for miracles to remedy diseases and misfortunes.

Day 2 Choose to take a twohour cooking lesson with Costa Rica's bestknown AfricanCaribbean chef or take a moderate guided hike in therainforest to Guayabo National Monument, the most important archaeological ruins dated back 3,000 years. In the afternoon, visit the Tayutic Hacienda where coffee, sugar cane and macadamia nuts are grown and processed. After dinner, you will have a presentation on AfricanCaribbean history in Costa Rica and the role that Marcus Garvey and the UNIA (Universal Negro Improvement Association) played.

Day 3 On your transfer to the Southern Caribbean coast, you visit Aviarios Sloth Rescue Center, the only one of its kind in the world. Afterwards, you will enjoy the atmosphere and craft stands and shops in Puerto Viejo, the "hot spot" on the Caribbean coast. You will have time to take a dip in the calm ocean waters feet from your resort room before you go out for your lobster dinner.

Day 4 You have a free morning or can take an optional Canopy / Zipline Tour through the treetops of Gandoca Manzanillo National Park. You continue on to Puerto Limon, the provincial capital, where you will have a special event in the evening with members of several civic organizations of Limon.

Day 5 Today is Black Heritage Day which has been celebrated internationally since the 1920s by the UNIA. You begin the day with the annual UNIA breakfast at Liberty Hall, the former office of the UNIA, which was declared a National Heritage Site in 1987. In the afternoon, wear traditional dress and join in the joyous Black Heritage Day Parade through the streets of Limon. In the evening enjoy music and dance by local and international performers from throughout the Caribbean countries.

Day 6 On your return to San Jose, shop in Moravia, a town known for a variety of Costa Rican crafts. In the evening, enjoy your farewell dinner at El Pueblo Center.

Day 7 Transfer to the international airport for your return.
