Scott Walking Adventures

There is a feeling you have landed in a place so remote that time stands still. These sparsely populated islands are connected by long white sand spits where seabirds are the only sunbathers.

We take you to miles of footpaths threading along tall red sandstone cliffs with sea stacks carved by the incessant ocean. As we wander along we can't help wondering at the hardiness of fishermen living here for hundreds of years in this pristine spot so far from the mainland.

The "Maggies", as they are sometimes called, were settled by Acadians fleeing deportation in 1755, so you'll hear plenty of French spoken in the tidy villages. There are also intriguing pockets of English settlement created by shipwrecked passengers and sailors who decided to stay. You'll understand why when you sample the delicious French cuisine for which the islands are famous.

We stay at an inn steeped in history and lore that was once a Captain's mansion. A bilingual guide tells the stories, explain the terrain, and talk about the flora and fauna of the beloved islands.

The Adventure starts and ends in Charlottetown, on Prince Edward Island (we will take you by ferry). If you prefer to fly there you can rendezvous with us at CapauxMeules.

Cape Breton is the most beautiful island in the world according to Conde Naste's Traveller Magazine and we think that the best way to experience it is on foot.
We'll pick you up in Sydney and whisk you away to the wilderness of Cape Breton and the Highland National Park. Here, scenic paths thread along cliffs with breathtaking vistas of ocean, coast and islands. Often we'll see moose, bald eagles, and whales as we hike. A Whale Watching cruise is an option during this adventure. At days end, we'll unwind at some of the best lodging in the area including the luxurious Keltic Lodge, perched on a peninsula jutting into the Atlantic.

This is an unforgetable coastal adventure that explores the Nova Scotia side of the Bay of Fundy and the rugged granite coastlines and isolated white beaches of the South Shore as well. At the phenomenal Cape Split, a dramatic penninsula jutting into the Bay of Fundy, we can watch and listen as the world's highest tides rip past us 300 feet below. We'll walk back in time as well along dykes first created by Acadians in the 17th century, through the restored buildings of Port Royal founded by Champlain in 1605 and through Lunenburg, a UN world heritage site.
This year, we've added walks to the famous Balancing Rock and around Brier Island, known for its amazing columnar coastline. An exciting Whale Watching Cruise is an option here.
Every night we'll relax in historic country inns, including Digby's renowned "Pines".
