Located midway between Calgary and Banff, Kananaskis country is a yearround, multiple use recreational area on the eastern slopes of the Canadian Rockies. Visitors can access over 60 mountain biking paths that double as crosscountry ski trails in the winter. The hostel is just minutes from Nakiska ski resort and offers special prices on horseback riding and whitewater rafting in the summer. Restaurants and other resort amenaties are available at nearby Kananaskis Village, a 20 minute hike from the hostel. Transportation to the Ribbon Creek hostel from other Alberta hostels is available between June and September.
