Tailoring
This program is started to promote girls who cannot afford to continue their education due to lack of school fees mainly orphans and vulnerable children, widows and single mothers to receive training in sewing and tailoring and to become self reliant, promote development within the community and become effective members of the society.
The program aims at creating a group that would eventually manage itself as a small business. Started in 2007 with few girls, Home Adventure hired a trainer to train the group in the dressmaking and some other items that they would sell out in the market. The program has quickly picked up and will soon open to outsiders (non-targets) at subsidized fees to sustain the project.
Still in its early stage, the group is soon to start making school uniforms and sell to schools and the community. These women, who previously had little or no income to support themselves and their children will be improving their lives and those of their children. The program has also given opportunity to girls who have become responsible for the care of their siblings due to the death of their parents.
Volunteer and take part in the training department and help these young girls achieve their goals
Donate to sponsor a girl or a single mother who is willing to join the training.
Teaching
Home Adventure Voluntary and Community Development Project offers volunteers to teach in the village local schools.Volunteers teaches subjects like English, Math, Science agriculture and Business. While teaching in the local schools, besides general education you can also teach games like soccer to children. Volunteers live with family in a local home-stay in the village. When not teaching volunteers can either stay at home and help in the family or take a walk with the assistance of one of the family members or go for boat riding to the islands in L. Victoria.
The program runs throughout the year with three months break in between when school closes in April, August and December.
Duration of the program is 4-12 weeks. Long term volunteers are also encouraged.

Poultry farming
Home Adventure started a poultry farm in February 2007. The chickens provide eggs, a good nutritional meal for our children and also an income generating activity to sustain the project.
