The four-star Hospederia de Monfragüe is located at the gates of the National Park of Monfragüe, in the western region of Spain known as Extremadura, which borders Portugal. Three monumental cities, Trujillo, Caceres, and Plasencia form a triangle, with the park and hotel in the middle. The hotel is made of the local slate stone and was completely remodelled in 2006. There are sitting rooms with fireplaces, billiard tables, a swimming pool, wireless internet, and terraces from which you can observe the national park of Monfragüe. This region of Spain is known for, among other things, cured meats and hams from pigs fed only acorns, cheeses such as the Torta del Casar, and wonderful red wines.
