WELCOME TO SARAJEVO
Haris Youth Hostel is one of Sarajevo's top-rated hostels, and enjoys a reputation of fun and professionalism which is rapidly becoming known throughout the region.
Despite having to climb a hill to get there, guests will be impressed by the spectacular view of the city that the height provides from the hostel terrace. To add to the Oriental atmosphere of the city, the call to prayer can be heard emanating from the area's many mosques.
The hostel is located about 10 minutes' walk from Bascarsija (Sarajevo's historic centre) in Vratnik, the oldest residential part of the city. Vratnik was built during Ottoman times, and still has defensive walls and towers which are open to the public.
In addition to the scenic beauty viewed from its terrace, Haris Youth Hostel also offers several excursions and tours. The best known of these is Haris' Sarajevo City Tour, which takes in numerous sites of cultural and historic significance, many of which are inconvenient to reach by public transport.
We also offer day trips to areas of interest outside the city, including Lukomir (Bosnia's highest mountain village), the Srebrenica Memorial Centre, and Visoko, home to Bosnia's alleged pyramids. We are flexible in the tours we offer, and for groups of 5 or more we can design tours tailored to your specific needs.
For those guests in search of the city's nightlife, the hostel runs a regular program of traditional Bosnian barbecues throughout the Summer months. This gives you an opportunity to meet your fellow travellers in a relaxed and friendly environment, and allows you to take advantage of the low prices at the hostel bar. As the night continues, Haris takes any interested guests to explore the city's bars and nightclubs.

From the main Sarajevo bus and train station:
By Tram:
Trams run approximately every 15 minutes between 5:30am and 11:30pm, with a reduced service on Sundays.
1. Take tram No.1 and exit at the 8th stop (Ba�čar�ija). You will need to buy a ticket from a kiosk (1.60KM) or the driver (1.80KM), and validate it in one of the machines on board.
2. Once you are at the Ba�čarsija tram stop, the office is about 10 seconds away. If you stand with your back to the road with the tram on it, we are in front of you, to the right of Konzum supermarket and Hod�ić butchers, and on the corner opposite the nearest mosque. There is a red, black and white sign above the window which reads 'Haris Youth Hostel'.
3.If you arrive outside office hours, you can take a taxi from just behind the tram stop, or bus No.52 (Bascarsija - Faletici) from the bus stop to the left of Konzum, next to the taxi stand. You can only buy your ticket from the driver, and it will cost 1.80KM.
4. Exit at the second stop (Mejdan). On your right you will see a supermarket called 'Mak'. Walk down the hill on the street 'Vratnik Mejdan' with the supermarket to your left.
5. Continue down the hill to Vratnik Mejdan 29 (on the right-hand side), and press the button marked 'Hostel', next to the wooden doors.
From Lukavica Bus Station:
By bus:
Buses run every 15 minutes from 5:30am to 11:30pm Monday to Saturday, and every 20 minutes from 7:00am to 11:30pm on Sundays.
1. Take bus number 31e (Vijećnica - Dobrinja) from the bus stop around 200m from the main station, and exit at the last station (Vijećnica). The journey should take around 30 minutes.
2. From the bus stop, the office is about 3 minutes away. Turn right onto the street with the tram lines on it, and continue on this road until you come to the main 'Pigeon' square on the left-hand side. On your right, you will see a row of shops facing you. If you stand with your back to the square, we are to the right of Konzum supermarket and Hod�ić butchers, and on the corner opposite the nearest mosque. There is a red, black and white sign above the window which reads 'Haris Youth Hostel'.
3.If you arrive outside office hours, you can take a taxi from just behind the tram stop, or bus No.52 (Bascarsija - Faletici) from the bus stop to the left of Konzum, next to the taxi stand. You can only buy your ticket from the driver, and it will cost 1.80KM.

If you are arriving by plane, the best way to get to our office or hostel is by taxi. This shouldn't cost more than 30KM, but it's a good idea to ask the price before you get in. Alternatively, you can contact us and we can organise transport for you.
