Louis Petrich
Louis and I are teachers. Louis teaches at St. John's College in Annapolis and I teach in the Anne Arundel County Public School system. We have also spent many years teaching outside the US, first with the Peace Corps in Czechoslovakia (Brno), and then Slovakia (Presov), Romania (Iasi), Kyrgyzstan (Bishkek), and Iraq (Kurdistan)! Yes, the kids went too! We settled down in Maryland, outside Annapolis. The four of us now live the typical fast-paced life of a suburban family, with sports practices and work demands!
But we lead a double life! Every summer, we escape to our diving paradise. Bonaire is our favorite spot in the world because of the never failing beautiful weather and 24/7 shore diving up and down the coasts. We love being a part of a community of divers who believe in protecting and preserving the reef. We participate in clean-up dives, lion fish hunting, fish surveys with REEF, and water clarity studies. My daughter is committed to taming all lizards, iguanas, parrots, donkeys, and goats on the island. So far, no success. My son is falling in love with wind surfing...kite boarding comes next.
