The Folkestone Inn is nestled in a grove of giant Norway Spruces, beside a mountain brook near the Deep Creek entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The inn is just two miles north of Bryson City, a sleepy little mountain community (pop. 1,400) which offers peace and quiet amid a wealth of natural scenery and outdoor activities.
There's hiking, trout fishing and horseback riding in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, mountain biking on the famous Tsali trails, fishing on Fontana Lake, sightseeing on the Great Smoky Mountains Scenic Railway and white water rafting on the Nantahala River, just a twenty-five minute drive from the Inn. There's an 18-hole golf course nearby, and the Biltmore Estate and Winery is just a little over an hour away, in nearby Asheville.
