Surrounded by the tranquillity of fields and countryside, La Grande Chaume is a charming old farmhouse set in a rural area of Auvergne.
We have two large family rooms as well as a single room, all equipped with hairdryers and tea/coffee-making facilities. Cots and children's beds can be provided for a small extra charge, and we also have facilities for babies. Irons and ironing boards and a laundry service are available.
Guests at La Grande Chaume can choose between a continental or a cooked breakfast, and we can also prepare packed picnic lunches for you to take with you during the day. Delicious 4 course evening meals are available, subject to prior arrangement. Please let us know at the time of booking if you have any special dietary requirements.
Our rustic property enjoys an atmosphere of total peace and relaxation, with our nearest neighbours located 3 fields away! We are still within easy reach of the RCEA and the A71, meaning we are perfect for a stopover as you travel through France. We have ample parking for cars and motorbikes.
We have an assortment of animals and birds at our smallholding. John is a beekeeper, with hives in the orchard and surrounding villages. You can be sure of a warm welcome, a comfortable bed and good food when you stay at La Grande Chaume.

Cancellations must be received at least 48 hours in advance.
Payment to be made by cash or cheque (EUR/GBP). Credit cards are not accepted.

Please note: As we have livestock, if you suffer from allergies La Grande Chaume may not be the place for you. However, if you are an animal lover, we have quite a few characters waiting to meet you!

GPS navigator : If you can't find our address in your navigation system, choose Cressanges - La Chaume Grande instead. Or you can use our GPS coordinates N46.47627 E3.17608.
From the N79 RCEA expressway : Take exit Cressanges D18. From Cressanges village follow direction Moulins and take the D137 (Rue de Souvigny). Follow this road approximately 3 km just over a small green metal bridge and turn left. This road is signed La Pte Chaume, La Gde Chaume and La Chapelle Giraudet. Continue to the farm La Petite Chaume and turn left at the crossroad (signed La Grande Chaume). After 500 meters you will find La Grande Chaume on your left.
From Moulins sur Allier center : Cross the bridge over the river Allier. Follow direction D945 (Montluçon, Clermont-Ferrand, A71, Bourbon L'Archambault, Souvigny). Turn left after about 1,5 km signed Cressanges/Bressoles D137. Drive through two forests. Take right on to the D34, then immediately take the first left, direction D137 to Cressanges. Continue for 7 km. Turn right signed La Chapelle Giraudet, just before a small green metal bridge. The opposite signs will read La Pte Chaume, La Gde Chaume and La Chapelle Giraudet. Continue to the farm La Petite Chaume and turn left at the crossroad (signed La Grande Chaume). After 500 meters you will find La Grande Chaume on your left.
By Train
The nearest railway station is Moulins sur Allier (mainline Paris - Clermont-Ferrand). You are able to catch the Eurostar from London Waterloo to Paris Gare du Nord, travel by metro/bus/taxi to Gare de Lyon and take the straight through train to Moulins sur Allier. Car hire is available at all railway stations.
