Affordable family-run hotel situated at the summit of the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, next door to the Chapel of Ascension. Surrounded by famous churches and holy sites including, among others, the Garden of Gethsemene, the Tomb of the Virgin Mary, the Church of all Nations, Dominus Flevit, and the Pater Noster (Lord's Prayer). Commands a dramatic view of the Old City and the magnificent Dome of the Rock. Ideal for independent travelers, budget conscious pilgrims, Holy Land tour groups, and archaeological excursions. A simple accommodation, in a homey atmosphere, at an outstanding value.

Accommodations

The Mount of Olives is a small and affordable, family-run hotel in the heart of Jerusalem's historical center. Our rooms are simple and include an en suite bath/shower and a telephone. We are surrounded by famous churches and holy sites including the Chapel of Ascension, the Pater Noster Church, and the Garden of Gethsemene. A walk to St. Stephan's Gate in the Old City takes about 15-20 minutes via the Garden of Gethsemene. The view along the way is stunning.

From the airport, take the Ayalon Highway east to Jerusalem. It is approx. a 50 minute drive. Upon arrival, follow the signs to the Old City. Go clockwise around the historic golden walls of Jerusalem from Damascus Gate to Lion's Gate. The incline of the Mount of Olives is just opposite Lion's Gate. Continue along the road a bit further until you reach the The Garden of Gethsemene. Look for the Church of All Nations, turn left and continue eastward & up. After a fairly steep climb, the twisting & narrow road will suddenly end in a "T". Turn right and drive about 15 meters. The hotel is located next to the Chapel of the Ascension.

If you do happen to get lost along the way, don't be shy to ask for directions. Below is a "quick & dirty" language survival guide:

Hebrew: "Afo Har Ha-Zayteem?"
Arabic: "Wayn Jebel Al-Zaytoun fi Alquds?"

If they start waiving their arms in all directions and shouting back a long explanation in an unfamiliar guttural language, then at that point you are on your own!

Payment in New Israeli Shekels is subject to a 17% Value Added Tax. There are no service charges or taxes when paying in foreign currency such as U.S. Dollars.
Economy single & double rooms are located on our 3rd floor. These are slightly smaller than our normal rooms. Economy singles have a private bathroom located across the hall outside of the room.
The Panorama Room is 317-318 with its stunning view of the Old City. It is basically two adjoining rooms sharing one bathroom making it ideal for honeymooners, a family of up to five, or a small group of close friends.
