Imperial Cities:
The imperial cities of Morocco are those cities which used to be capitals of prominent dynasties. There are four main cities : Marrakech, Rabat, Fes and Meknes.
Erg Chebbi desert:
Erg chebbi dunes are the immense sand dunes in North Africa. This natural attraction is situated in the south-east of Morocco (in Tafilalet district). The destination is also called Merzouga desert, for Merzouga is the name of a little village by the sand dunes.
Atlas mountains:
Atlas Mountains are the highest of North Africa, with a peak reaching 3000 metres. At winter, snow covers thousands of hectares of the mountains, which is a good time to practice snow-boarding. The Atlas mountains are divided into three categories : the Anti atlas, High atlas and middle atlas.
The Atlantic Coast:
This coastal and port destination is by far a wonderful place. Essaouira (200 Kms from Marrakech ) was founded by the Portuguese invaders, before it was regained by the Berbers. Mogador isle is a historical feature, marking a great history and a glorious existence.
Gorges and Valleys:
Dades gorgs and Todgha gorges are must see. These geological formations are gigantic! and often named the "grand canyon" of Morocco. Just inland the mountains, there begins the valleys with various flora. Such as valley of roses, Ziz valley and Draa valley, containing millions of palm trees.
People of Morocco are by a global witness, the most hospitable in the world. The population consist of Major Arab and Amazigh (Berber) races. Averages on which race exist the most are deliberately not given, in order to maintain harmony and tolerance among them. Berbers exist before the coming of Arabs for more than 2000 years. Yet, the native people showed great human values when receiving foreigners to the country. Both Arabs and Berbers share common interests, including religion (islam) and basic norms associated with faith. Minorities do exist as well, to name: there is the Jewish community and African minorities who settled during the empires. Andalusians (ancient Hispanics) settles also in Fes, and still hold some of their life attributions.
The official currency of Morocco is Dirham (MAD). A big proportion of the population also use sub-categorised currencies, including Franks and centimes. But you can purchase using Dirhams. Merchants often do not accept foreign currencies, unless if you have banknotes, which can be easily exchanged into Dirham. This is the rate of MAD compared to different global currencies:1 Euros: 11.18 DH1 US Dollar: 8.35 DH1 GB Pound: 14.10 DH1 CAD: 7.65 DH1 AUS: 7.75 DH
Morocco is allocated in the subtropical North-West Africa. It is characterized by a very different climate in different regions. Coastal areas have a temperate climate, while the climate in desert and the entire south east is mostly hot. The climate also varies with the seasons.Winters for example witness cold weather (average of 5 Degrees cilcious), Springs are moderate (about 26 degrees cilcious), Summers acknowledge hot weather (average 45 degrees cilcious) while Autumn looks windy and less hot than summer
