Welcome to the Jailhotel Löwengraben - the first Jailhotel in Switzerland! The historical building was built in 1862. It was used as a prison until autumn 1998. Where prisoners attempted to escape for more than 135 years, today, tourists and residents of Lucerne enjoy the unique atmosphere of the Jailhotel and Alcatraz-Bar. But watch out ! The 'Löwengraben' is the first prison in Switzerland you'll never want to leave. The hotel is located right in the heart of the historical old town of Lucerne, only 5 - 10 minutes walkng distance to the railway station and the top tourist attractions such as the Kapellbrücke and Bucherer Watch Shop, the first Jailhotel of Switzerland has recently opened. Thu club is open from thuersday till saturday from 22.00 till 05.00 o clock. New: Every Sunday morning AfterHour ('Morning Dance') in the Club - that means it can get noisy till 7.30 o'clock. Pet cost 15 CHF per day.
Directions
From Airport Zürich take directions highway A2/E35 (green signs) leads to Lucerne. Take exit 'Luzern Zentrum' Follow direction 'Bahnhof, See' (main-station, lake). Once arrived at Lucerne Trainstation it isn't far to the Jailhotel. It takes between 10 and 15 minutes on foot. The closest way from Lucerne Trainstation: Turn right over the bridge and walk till 'Schwanenplatz' Go on Grendelstrasse, cross the Falkenplatz, take the street which is most right and you are already at Löwengraben. Follow the street and you will find the Jailhotel! The international airports in Zurich, Basel and Geneva are only a short trip by car to Lucerne, and are also well connected with direct fast trains.
