One and a half hours from Dallas, or from Shreveport, this part of Texas features towering pines, green pastures and woods, and a slower pace of living than other areas. Cattle graze, but on green grass, rather than on mesquite and tumbleweeds. The nearest large city is Tyler, 30 miles away, known for rose production and the Azalea Trail. Grand Saline, 12 miles away, came into being as a salt mining town while Van, three miles away, has a cotton growing/oil production history. Canton has a growing reputation as home of First Monday Trade Days, one of the largest flea markets in the world, where if you can't find it, it probably doesn't exist.
The Inn is a compound of buildings; the main house, which has 2 suites and a queen sized bedroom downstairs on one wing and a queen sized bedroom and king sized bedroom upstairs; the bunkhouse which sleeps 12 and has its own full kitchen; and the gameroom with a 9x5 pool table, electronic darts, and billiard/pool memorabilia for your viewing enjoyment. All the buildings are connected by decking, making all areas handicapped accessible. The hottub under the stars is in a gazebo in the middle of the compound. There is a balcony from the upstairs with steps down to the main deck; both suites have their own deck area, and the front porch has comfortable chairs for siting and rocking while watching the birds and other wildlife which abound in the area. The 24 foot heated swimming pool with 8 foot surround deck is set away from the main house with a boardwalk leading from the gameroom deck.
Rates per night are $75 for a queen sized bed, $85 for a king, $150 for a suite, $500 for the bunkhouse. We are open 365 days of the year, featuring "family" dinners for those wanting a "home for the holidays"

We offer discounts for a multiple night stay, and sometimes we offer discounts just because we feel like it.
The two suites are equipped with a queen sized bed and a trundle which makes into either two singles or one queen. They have their own bathroom facilities. The other room downstairs also has its own bathroom. The two room upstairs share a bathroom with shower. All the rooms are designed for comfort, there are no fragile antique chairs which make you afraid to sit. There are instead, sturdy, though old, padded seats, sofas that invite you to stretch out, coffee tables that clamor to be your foot rest.
We are located in a "dry" county. Guests who wish to have alcohol are encouraged to bring their cooler, we'll supply the glasses. The refrigerator is stocked with cold drinks at all times. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cider are available at all times, and meals, other than breakfast, can be provided for an extra charge. There are numerous restaurants in Canton, and two (plain food but good) cafes in Van. The bunkhouse is designed so that the bunks fold flat to the wall, leaving a large room useful for meetings or activities.
Breakfast can be served in bed or in the dining room, by guests choice. Meals other than breakfast can be furnished for an extra charge. Food intolerances are not a problem, if we know ahead of time. We have been known to give a neck rub a time or two to urban-stressed guests, though we do not formally "give massages".
We do not accept guests with either children or pets as travelling companions. Because we cater to adults trying to "get away from it all", most would not appreciate leaving their children at home to spend a weekend with someone else's.With the growing allergy problems, we prefer not to take any animals in the house, and we are not equipped to contain them outside safely.
