Located in Golden, British Columbia, A Quiet Corner is situated in one of the most spectacularly beautiful regions in all of Canada, surrounded on all sides by six mountainous national parks. If you're seeking the perfect romantic getaway, a quiet sabbatical, or a thrilling mountain adventure, A Quiet Corner Bed & Breakfast offers ideal accommodations for your needs, and always includes a full-service freshly made breakfast of your choice. There's even a piano, should you feel the need to explore your musical talents!

Rates at A Quiet Corner are extremely reasonable, ranging from $65 to $140 nightly (Canadian funds). Priority is given to couples and single women, but groups up to 8 can be accommodated.

It's a perfect atmosphere for the mountainous locale of Golden, British Columbia: warm, welcoming and comfortable. The solid wooden beams throughout add the rustic feel you would expect for a home in the midst of six national parks. On the main floor of A Quiet Corner, you will find the very spacious open-concept dining room. Also on the main floor is a cozy sitting room, an ideal place to wind down. Located there are the stereo, television, and VCR, available at all times for my visitors. Also on the main floor is the new Cottonwood Suite, which can accommodate up to 4 people. It has a private entrance, queen bedroom, ensuite bath, sitting room with double futon bed/couch and private bath, kitchenette, and fireplace.

As you ascend to the second floor of A Quiet Corner Bed & Breakfast towards the Poppy Room and Beachcomber Room, there can be found a landing lined with bookshelves and offering up a comfy reading chair which invites anyone to relax with a good novel.

The Poppy Room can accommodate both single or double occupancy. The room is airy and spacious, without ever appearing stark or cold. Cozy without feeling cramped, the Beachcomber Room on this floor has a charm all its own. Like the master bedroom, this room can accommodate both single and double occupancy. If you're looking to settle in with a good book, or with a good partner, you'll feel more than comfortable staying the night.

Its location is one that a nature enthusiast, an outdoor sports fan, and any tourist dream of. Golden, with a population of approximately 4,000 permanent residents, is surrounded by six mountainous national parks: Yoho, Banff, Jasper, Mount Revelstoke, Glacier and Kootenay -- Yoho National Park being just a half-hour drive away.

At the junction of the Trans-Canada Highway #1 and Highway 95, it is also the junction of the Columbia and Kicking Horse Rivers, making it an ideal spot for water adventures of all kinds. Golden is just around the corner from the Columbia River wetlands, providing an important stop in the migratory route of over 250 different species of birds; and in Golden's back yard, there is Reflection Lake, a beautiful and peaceful spot to relax.

Some of its most highly acclaimed features are the incredible powder snow to be found here, along with thermals second to none, making it a world-class stop for snowboarding, downhill, cross country, and heli-skiing, along with hanggliding and paragliding. Directions to A Quiet Corner

A) When approaching Golden, BC, via Highway 95 from Radium Hot Springs:

1. Turn left onto 12th Street South, at the blue B&B sign.
2. Go straight, down 12th Street, to 7th Avenue. Turn left.
3. At the stop sign, turn right onto 13th Street; A Quiet Corner is located at 607 South 14th Street; parking is at the 2nd house on your left.

B) When approaching Golden, BC, via the Trans-Canada #1 Highway, either from Revelstoke or Lake Louise:

1. Take access to Downtown Golden and to Highway #95 for Radium.
2. Follow this main access road and cross the bridge over the Kicking Horse River. This same road is called 10th Avenue South at this point.
3. Go straight at traffic lights at 9th Street.
4. After passing "Overwaitea" grocery store (on your left), turn right at the blue B&B sign, onto 12th Street South, then continue as indicated in A) 1 and 2.
