This is our 1st Wombats, opened in 1999 by Sasha, Marcus and 5 staff members. But it's by no means 'old': every single piece of furniture has been replaced at least once, all bathrooms got a complete renovation, the bar and breakfast room a major facelift.
Get to know the place from which the Wombats spirit set out for international fame, conquering travelersâ€Â™ hearts. The sun terrace is the big plus. It's a brilliant out-door zone during daytime, it turns into bar area in the evening!
PLEASE NOTE: the rates given on this site do not include breakfast. An all-you-can-eat continental buffet brekkie costs eur 3.70. You don�t need to 'reserve' breakfast; just come round to the reception in the morning if you are hungry.

Unfortunately not something to take for granted in many other hostels, but we do take this seriously: we have won the â€Â˜cleanest hostel worldwideâ€Â™ award. Twice.
Most amenities
We are centrally located and close to the trains and public transport. All our rooms come with comfy wooden beds, private shower & toilet facilities and lockers for your belongings. You'll get a free set of bed linen, a free welcome drink, WiFi for free use (in the entire ground floor), a guest kitchen for free use and our self-made free city map with all essential information about the goings-on in town.
We offer an all-you-can-eat breakfast, our lively wombat serves cheap drinks and food, internet terminals, Laundromats, 24 hours reception service and (of course) no age limits no curfew, no lockout and no stupid rules.

Best Social Atmosphere
We make sure that you will feel safe and welcome here. When you have been on the road all day long, seeing sights and walking and walking, it's cool to have a nice scene at the hostel where you can have some beers, talk and make friends. This will make your stay a memorable one! Many travelers stayed quite a bit longer than primarily intended.
Wombats is not dirt cheap
You may find an even cheaper place to crash in town, but none where you get more value for your money.

Please Note: no check-in before 2pm (we need to clean the rooms first!) You may leave your stuff with the reception though and come back later.
And while you are waiting for your room to be cleaned, you can already join our free walking tour through the city (the only free tour in Vienna there is!). It is taking place every day during the summer months and about every other day in the winter (just ask at the reception for further information).
From the airport :
Take local train S7 or CAT to 'Landstrasse/Wien Mitte', change to U4 (green underground line) until 'Spittelauf' and then take a train until Tulln
the youth hostel is 900m near the trainstation
From railway station 'Wien West' :
Take U6 to 'Längenfeldgasse', change to U4 to 'Spittelau' - rest as above...
From railway station 'Wien Süd' :
Take tram line 'D' to Karlsplatz, change to U4 to 'Spittelau` - rest as above
