These are walking/hiking trips along the coastline of the Monterey Bay, a national marine sanctuary. You will be at sea level most of the trip unless you choose optional walks up into the redwood forests. The trips are on or near the beach. . The average day involves 10-14 miles per day, or 5 hours of walking. Optional excursions include kayaking, whale watching, wine tasting and more.
Each trip is individual...on your own or with your travel partner only..

You have a full breakfast at your hotel each morning. You set off on your walk each day at a time you choose to be convenient, with advice from the guide. A 8am to 10am start most days will be recommended. You walk using the custom maps and directions that have been provided to you and carry a gourmet sack lunch. You have lunch along the route at your convenience. You should arrive at your next night's beachfront or beachside lodging by 3pm or 4pm, depending on your walking speed. You can relax, have a massage, take a nap. Dinners are not included in the trip price. However, you are provided recommendations that are on site or very close by. The trips are intended to be self-guided to allow you the freedom to walk when you want and with whom you wish to walk. Your guide will be available by phone 24/7 but will not walk with you. All trips are wifi accessible.

This is a trip for people who love to walk or hike and enjoy seeing the ocean and enjoying its beauty. A couple will find this to be a very relaxing and carefree way to enjoy each other while seeing amazing natural beauty without the hustle and bustle of travel. Hiking and walking clubs find this to be a perfect getaway. Children who are interested in marine life and are mature (12yrs) enough to handle multiple days of walking/hiking are welcome. The trips are also perfect for active family reunions. Singles are welcome as the walk can provide an excellent solitary experience during the day with activities at the inns in the evenings if they choose.
So far the youngest walker was 13yrs and the oldest 89 yrs!

Each night your trail will end at a beach front or near beach accommodation with great amenities and services. Trips include 3, 5 or 8 nights of distinctive lodging. One night you will be in a bed and breakfast, one night is a celebrated boutique hotel, one night is a beachfront resort hotel, one night is an inn nestled in the dunes with fireplaces, and your last night is on Cannery Row in Monterey. All breakfasts and several lunches are included (except the arrival day). Dinners are not included. However, all of our lodging has great dining either at the hotel or extremely near by. Recommendations will be provided to each walker. All the trips can be customized to find your get-away.

No pets are allowed as you will be walking through nature preserves and other protected beach habitats. No smoking is allowed at any of the lodging.

Your luggage is transported each day to the next day's lodging. You need not carry anything except your lunch and a water bottle. This is truly a low tech, environmentally friendly way to spend your vacation. Most walkers enjoy bringing their camera and/or binoculars along each day.
