The youth hostel is located in the 'Les Riaux' area of the village, 10 minutes' walk from the station.
There are a few possibilities how to travel from Zurich to Château d'Oex. Here two of them:
Alternative #1 (duration 3h 38 min, number of changes 2)
Take train from Zurich Main Station to Lausanne (2h 11min), change in Lausanne and take train to Montreux (19min), here change to the 'GoldenPass Panoramic train' and get off at Château d'Oex (57min).
Alternative #2 (duration 3h15min, number of changes 3)
Take train from Zurich Main Station to Berne (57min), change here and take train to Spiez (direction Interlaken). Get off at Spiez and take train to Zweisimmen (44min). In Zweisimmen change to the 'GoldenPass Panoramic train' and get off at Château d'Oex (49min).
Auto route Geneva - Lausanne - Vevey - Freiburg Take the Bulle exit and follow the road to Château-d'Oex.
