The owner , JoLoyce Kaia, of Hana Maui Botanical Gardens has been living in Hawaii since 1958 and living in the Gardens since 1976. JoLoyce has been active in Conservation for over 30 years and is currently Chair of Hana Soil and Water Conservation District and V.P. for Maui and V.P. for Hawaii Assoc. of Conservation Districts.
JoLoyce and John started with 6 of 8 children in tents and gradually built a home and planting the gardens with tropicals to add to the local and native plants already established. It is part of the largest last remaining Hala (pandanus) forests in Hawaii. Lots of tropical flowers and fruits and two comfortable rental studios for farm stays. John passed away in 2001 so keeping it all going is a challenge.
