The Hotel opened on the 28th October 2001, and was awarded Five Star status on the 21st March 2003 . From 2001 to 2011hotel was managed by InterContinental Hotels Group under the Crowne Plaza brand . From January 2012, OCT (Overseas Chinese Town) international hotel Management Co . Ltd has resumed management of the hotel brand and operations as The Venice Hotel Shenzhen .
