Research Expeditions
include know about an opportunity to join a life-changing learning adventure next month out on Isle au Haut, Maine. Ardea EcoExpeditions has collaborated with seabird researchers from the Maine Natural History Observatory to assist in radio tracking Purple Sandpipers and resight banded Harlequin Ducks in this spectacular coastal island setting that is home to the largest concentration of wintering Harlequin Ducks in eastern North America. Imagine getting close up looks at the gaudy blue, red and white plumage of a male harlequin feeding in the surf – or fulfill a life-long dream to track wildlife with an antenna like you’ve seen on nature documentaries. Your day of hands-on research will also allow excellent opportunities to view pelagics and winter seabirds from the island including Northern Gannets, Red-breasted Merganser, Long Tailed Duck, Red Throated Loon, three scoters, and more. And of course we will be directly supporting researcher’s efforts to conserve threatened seabirds…
