AORAKI MT COOK TREK: Got just two days for an overnight trek at Mt Cook? This is a great way to experience this majestic mountain up close without having to be a seasoned mountaineer. Spend one night at the private Caroline Hut, straight opposite the mighty Caroline Face, New Zealand's highest ice face. It's 850 meters in altitude you need to climb from the Tasman Glacier up to the hut, with awesome views all the way. Watch the sun set on Mt Tasman and the sun rise on Aoraki/Mount Cook while being able to see all the way up the 29km long Tasman Glacier.
BALL PASS SUMMIT TREK: This is all that the Aoraki/Mt Cook Trek offers and more with an extra day to give you time to hike further up the Ball Ridge, cross the top of the Ball Glacier and on up to the summit of Ball Pass. Fantastic views of the Hillary (South) Ridge of Aoraki/Mount Cook and across to Mt Sefton and all the way down the Hooker Valley. Crampons and ice-axe will be provided and instruction given.
BALL PASS CROSSING: Challenging trekking: Climb 850m from the Tasman Glacier to the private Caroline Hut, opposite the awesome Caroline Ice Face of Aoraki Mount Cook. Learn how to use crampons and ice-axe and climb an easy peak. Cross a small glacier and Ball Pass then make a steep 1000m descent to Mount Cook Village via the lush Hooker Valley. Previous hiking and backpacking experience essential.
SNOWSHOE HIKES: Available in the winter months July-September. Lots of trails to explore in the Lake Tekapo High Country with wonderful views of the Southern Alps and out over Lake Tekapo and the Mackenzie Basin. Based at a private heated hut at 1300m.
CLIMBING COURSES: 4-day Introductory and 6-day Intermediate Climbing Courses based at Caroline Hut in Mt Cook National Park. Get a group of 3 or more together for discounted rates and a whole heap of fun and adventure in the mountains.
