You have the opportunity to share the beauty and wide open spaces of Wyoming from atop your surefooted horse. Imagine riding through open meadows, high plains desert, along canyon rims, through river waters, and aspen groves. Riding along red buttes spanning as far as you can see and searching for herds of wild horses and even swimming with your horse. Enjoy an afternoon canter up to 12 miles!! But the choice is always yours. Depending on which Western Encounters' adventure you choose. Our rides are situated in different locations in Wyoming; terrain changing before your eyes. Promising to satisfy novice to expert riders.
Your day begins with a hearty meal prepared by our friendly cook in our kitchen on wheels After breakfast you mount up and head out for a new day riding over high plains desert, through river waters, searching for wild horses; it depends on which of our adventures you chose for the week. The terrain is always changing before your eyes. The morning ride is always at a comfortable slow pace. After you've eaten lunch out in the middle of Mother Nature's backyard, you have the choice of returning back to camp via the slower/shorter or faster/harder route. Having opportunities to canter your horse across the desert for up to 12 miles!! Average time in the saddle each day is 5-7 hours. Returning to camp, you'll be greeted with cold drinks and refreshments. You'll spend the late afternoon relaxing, taking a shower, going over your experiences of the day with your riding friends, writing in your journal or going for a walk searching for arrow heads. Evenings are spent sitting around the campfire, under a star filled sky, singing and story telling. Falling asleep thinking of tomorrow's adventure.
Age range, type of group
All ages from 8 to 81! Our riding friends come alone, with friends and family or in a group. Sharing a Western Encounters with friends is always special.
Sleeping and meals
First and last nights will be spent in Lander at The Pronghorn Inn. The other nights you will be camping under the stars in tents. 3" foam pads go under your sleeping bags. We rent sleeping bags for $25/week.
Breakfast and dinners are prepared by our wonderful cook. Wine is served with dinner. Lunch is packed in your saddle bags and eatten on the trail.
Rides vary from $1530 to $1875. Prices include sales tax and gratuities.
