Surrounding Area

Wheeler Peak Wilderness, Taos Ski Valley, Wild Rivers Recreation Area, Rio Grand Gorge, Taos Pueblo, Bandelier National Monument, Cumbres & Toltec Railway, Millicent Rogers Museum. The inn is at 7,000 feet in a high desert.


Dobson House is totally solar powered and was designed by the architect Michael Reynolds, known for his use of recycled materials to construct an earthship "castle." The common room affords 270 degrees of views with mountain peaks in all directions. Guests are welcome to use this room to relax, eat, and enjoy the sunsets. A short walk down the drive leads to the Rio Grande Gorge.


Suites are spacious and furnished in a comfortable southwestern style with separate sleeping and sitting areas. Views are spectacular. Each suite has a large tiled private bath. Linens are all cotton. Comforters and pillows are down. Alternatives are available for those with allergies.

A telephone is available for guest use as is a computer jack. Dinner is available with advance notice, at an additional charge. Afternoon refreshments are served daily. A full gourmet breakfast is included in the rate. A natural hot springs is just a short walk from the inn.

Open year round. Rates are $110 double occupancy except for Christmas and New Years. Additional persons in room $25 each.

Directions are mailed with confirmation. Inn is located off Highway 64 just northeast of the Gorge Bridge.

Discounts Offered

Book 5 days and receive a 6th night free. Guest who stay at least five nights also receive a complimentary dinner at the inn one evening.
