Description of Activity/Tour

Located only one hour from the United States border, on the west coast of Canada, and in the province of British Columbia, Vancouver is the 3rd largest city of Canada with a population of about 1.5m (city) to 3 m. (surrounds). Widely regarded as Canada's most scenic city, Vancouver enjoys a pleasant and mild climate with little snow in the winter and 30?c in the summer.

The Institute is the only adult ESL school to offer FREE, weekly Friday activities in conjunction with its English programme. Students may choose from over 120 activities, anything from skiing lessons to horseback trails, golf to scuba diving lessons, camping to computer classes, and tours to Victoria and Whistler. Everything is included: transport, lessons, tours, equipment, entrance fees and, in some cases, meals too. Individually these can cost over $100 each at other schools. As an alternative, students may also choose from academic classes on Fridays at no extra cost.

General Description:
Every year, students of all ages (16-75 years), and from many countries and professions, attend Eurolingua's numerous language, cultural, special interest and summer programmes worldwide. Students include private individuals, mature teenagers, university and MBA students, teachers, doctors, professional and business people, corporate executives, diplomats and embassy staff, government employees, military personnel and retired people.

One-to-One Homestays (16-75 years):
Live and study abroad for 1 to 4 weeks, on a full-board basis, in the private family residence of a Eurolingua tutor. You benefit from intensive one-to-one, professional language tuition, enjoy local excursions and share usual family social, cultural and leisure activities. Total immersion in the language, culture and way of life is guaranteed. We collect you at and return you to the nearest airport or railway station. Programmes are available all year.

Group Programmes (16-75 years):
You benefit from a minimum of 15 hours (20 lessons) per week tuition in small friendly groups at one of our Institutes, with cultural visits and leisure activities. In order to maintain linguistic and cultural continuity, accommodation is with a selected, local host family. Studio apartments are also available. Open all year, with and special programmes during the summer.

The Eurolingua Institute teaches 9 languages in 29 countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, France, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malta, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom, USA and Venezuela.

Typical Day

We offer full-time (30hours/week)and half-time (15 hours/week) English conversational and Business English (includingTOEIC) courses for adults (17 years and over).

Students attending half-time classes, mornings or afternoons, are able to choose one activity every Friday for free. Full-time students may choose two free activities.

The Institute offers 8 levels of English with a maximum of 12 students per class. At any one time, there are students from 12 to 16 countries. However, we have a strict English-only policy so that students may develop their English skills to the maximum. Our classes are very interactive and focus largely on improving speaking and listening skills, although reading and writing exercises are also included.

Sleeping and meals

In order to maintain linguistic and cultural continuity, students are accommodated with one of our local, selected host families. We have over 200 host families situated in the safest and most attractive neighbourhoods, yet within an average of only 30 minutes travelling time from the school by public transport. Homestays include 3 meals/day, private bedroom, study desk, and free airport pickup and drop-off. Other accommodation options include apartments in the nearby Westend area (only 5 to 10 minutes walking distance from the school). This is a very safe and convenient area in which to live, especially if you want to be closer to the action!

Other Information

Volunteer Programme
Further, students also have the opportunity to incorporate volunteer work into their English programmes at no extra cost!! For example, working in the community with children or elderly people, assisting at conventions and sports events, or volunteer work in the workplace where students have yet another opportunity to practise their English.

Why not offer your knowledge and work skills to the community at large in Vancouver and gain valuable overseas experience. You will even receive a "Work Reference" from your supervisor. Professional students have found this had led to better work opportunities when they return home.Streetsville, Toronto (en fran硩s)

Toronto:
Streetsville (population 15,000) is small-town Canada, the real Canada. 5 minutes from the countryside, 30 minutes from downtown Toronto. The perfect mix of city excitement and country charm. Six festivals a year, five pubs with live music every week, four distinct seasons, three major shopping areas, too many friendly people to count and one beautiful river. Streetsville has it all. In a city school, you just study English. In Streetsville you join the community.

Summer barbeques, autumn trips to the cottage on the lake, Christmas dinner in front of the fire, springtime fishing for salmon in the River. See the world-famous Niagara Falls, watch a football, basketball or ice-hockey team playing.
Conversation, grammar, idioms and business English.
