Even if you don’t know a thoroughbred from a Thunderbird, the scenic countryside and colorful history make ‘Bluegrass Country’ the ideal spot for an active vacation.
With a lazy float down the Kentucky River, excellent hiking, a visit to a traditional Kentucky Bourbon distillery, bike rides past bluegrass pastures, and legendary dining, this is an excursion with some serious horsepower. (And if you do drool over the Derby, we’ll make sure you get your ‘celebrity’ fix at some of the most prestigious horse farms in the country)
Our luxury vacations blend the region's best bicycling routes, hiking trails and waterways into one awe-inspiring, well-rounded leisure adventure.
Our introduction to Bluegrass Country begins on a privately-owned and working horse farm, where we’ll be lead amongst the champion thoroughbreds and understand better the makings of a true Kentucky Horse farm. From there, we’ll pedal down Old Frankfurt Pike past horse pastures toward the Labrot & Graham Distillery. Here we will learn about the history of Bourbon making and enjoy a picnic on the grounds. After biking back to our inn, we’ll enjoy dinner in a local historical house. The second day we will enjoy a boat ride through the Kentucky River Palisades while a local narates the history of the area and later mount horses for a sunset dinner ride. The next few days we will spend at the Shaker Village, which represents America’s finest, largest and most completely restored Shaker Village community and living museum.

Sleeping and meals
Eating well has never been a problem on our tours! You can eat as much or as little as you like. Some choose to snack all day, while others choose to work up their appetite for the fine cuisine later in the day. Either way, active travel is conducive to eating, because you can always pedal the extra mile! Our accommodations include a National Historical Registered bed and breakfast in Versialles and the Shaker Village, which is one of only three properties in Kentucky listed in the current Zagat Survey of the top U.S. Hotels, Resorts and Spa’s.
