Heilala Holiday Lodge

The new and improved Heilala Holiday Lodge is now located on the stunning sandy beaches of Haʻatafu and Kanokupolu (moved here in 2010), with the most picturous sunsets, the best surfing on the main island, great snorkelling and a beautiful sandy beach that stretches over a kilometer long and from where you can spot Tonga's famous humpback whales in season.

Our Standard rooms (offered through this webiste) is our most economical option and ideal for those who have to stretch the travel budget. The room consists of a either one double or two single beds and all windows are fitted with mosquito screens. In-room amenities include a tabletop fan, a wash basin and a chair.

We also offer ensuite fales (bungalows) but these are currently not offered through this site!

Directions

Getting around:
There are several option available, but the most popular is the 'very cost effective' village bus service which also provides a great experience into the traditional way of live on the island. Busses operate Monday to Saturday (7am to 5pm), they stop 350 meters from the Lodge and there is a bus about every half hour! The bus fare (to or from Nukuʻalofa) is T$ 2.50 per person/per way. Taxis are also available on call (24 hrs) and are most cost effective when used as a shared transport option, a small bus taxi can fit up to 7 adults and costs T$30 to or from Nuku'alofa. Shuttle transfers can be arranged for almost any group size and the cost per person depends on the total number of passengers (please ask). Rental cars, scooters and bicycles can also be arranged and daily rates are available from (T$50 for a car or scooter & T$10 for a bicycle). Please note: A Tongan drivers licence is needed to hire cars and scooters.

Airport shuttle service:
Heilala Holiday Lodge offers airport transfers to and from the international and domestic terminals. For our current airport shuttle rates please e-mail us!

International arrivals: If you have booked with us directly (not trough an agent) for a stay of at least 3 consecutive nights and arrive on an International inbound flight, we will pick you up from the International terminal 'Free of charge' (please request at time of booking)!
