Hostal Pilcomayo is a family-run business, going back over 10 years now, located in the centre of the heritage area, Cerro Concepción, well located and with easy access on foot or by car. This red painted house, dating back to 1912, stands on the corner of the streets called Pilcomayo and Templeman, opposite the Music Institute of the Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, which gives us its melodious sounds and operistic voices each day. And on the other side of the street the Anglican Church of St. Pauls, which delights us with its concerts on the oldest and largest tube organ concerts in South America.

A calm atmosphere, in the very centre of everything, gives the visitor a chance to get to know all the most well known tourist attractions of Valparaiso, just a short walk away, without having to spend on transport. All parts are within easy walking distance.
In common with most of the accommodation in the sector, this house has few rooms, and the way in which it was built leads to interacting, allowing guests to share with the Pilcomayo family on a day to day basis, a family always there to make your stay enjoyable and unforgettable.

The rooms have lots of light, with large windows to feel the seaboard air of this port town. You can have a read or write with natural light.

How to find the Hostel:
From Santiago to Valaparaiso
Take a bus from the Bus Terminal in Santiago, heading for Valparaiso, destination Terminal. Buses leave every 15 minutes up to 22:00. I recommend you reach Valparaiso by day and never accept offers from people who say they work at the Bus Terminal, as they generally offer non-existent promotions, taking the unaware to places far away from the heritage area which, in the long term, turns out to be more costly than going to the centre itself.
From the Bus Terminal
A taxi will cost around $3,000, but never more, to Hostal Pilcomayo in Cerro Concepción.
By microbus, $300, in Avenida Pedro Montt or any bus with the sign Aduana, get off at the Turri Clock building and take the Turri or Concepción lift opposite the Turri building, for $300. When you reach the top, turn left and walk one and a half blocks up the main street, Templeman, with Pilcomayo street on your right.
If you arrive after 22:00, the lift will be closed so, instead of getting off the bus at the Turri clock building, get of at Bellavista where there is a Lider Vecino shop, right on the corner, cross the square called Intendencia and walk into the square called Aníbal Pinto. There walk up two and a half blocks up Almirante Montt until you reach the Anglican church of St. Paul's. This road junction is called 14 Asientos. From here you can reach Templeman street and then Pilcomayo.
From Plaza Anibal Pinto , you can also take a taxi up to the hostel, for $1,000.
In Valparaiso, don't hesitate to ask if you get lost.
