Tian Yuan Kui Guest House was built in the Qianlong year (1791) of the Qing Dynasty and is one of the oldest hotels in Pingyao. The hotel is in a beautiful courtyard building and has great atmosphere. It has kept the (Ming and Qing dynasty) wooden structure. It consists of a front courtyard, a middle courtyard, a side courtyard and a back courtyard. The spacious lobby also functions as a restaurant where you can have dinner, or take a rest, or surf the internet by our 5 fast-connection computers free of charge. Our restaurant can provide both Chinese and western food at a reasonable price. And all yards in our guesthouse are decorated with plants and flowers. In our back courtyard, there is a quiet area for our guests to enjoy reading, drinking etc.
Location
We are conveniently located on picturesque South Street in the center of town, only 50 meters away from the city tower-the center of Pingyao ancient city. Whichever sites you visit, you will pass our guesthouse. South Street is a pedestrian street.
Room Facilities
Our guesthouse is very quiet. Some rooms feature the traditional kang-style bed which can sleep up to two people and can be heated in winter. Some rooms are equipped with wooden dragon beds exclusively used by emperors in ancient China. All rooms have a private bathroom, with 24-hour hot water, air-conditioning, TV and wireless internet access. The room facilities are among the best in Pingyao. If you like, you can also enjoy massage, acupuncture etc. in your room.

Pingyao's architecture and city wall are an excellent example of Ming and Qing Dynasty city planning. It is a wonderful place to wander around and discover the everyday life of the city's residents. Pingyao has a number of attractions you should not miss. An all-inclusive ticket (120 rmb) allows access to 19 sites, museums and the city wall (concessions for over 65s, and free for 70+). The entrance ticket is good for two days.
As Pingyao is a very small, ancient town, there is no Bank China here. So you had better prepare enough cash for your stay. There is an ATM outside the West Gate. It is very difficult to book hard or soft sleeper train tickets at Pingyao Railway Station. However, Tian Yuan Kui guesthouse can assist you in booking your train tickets from Pingyao to the destination of your choice.

Shuanlin temple, about 6 kilometers away, is also a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. In this temple, there are more than 2,000 painted sculptures.
Qiao's Family Courtyard is about 40 kilometers away. It was the home of a powerful trading family with significant commercial influence stretching beyond Shanxi Province. It was in this mansion that the famous film 'Raise the Red Lantern', directed by Zhang Yimou, was made. The complex is fortified by a 10 meter high wall. It is now one of the most popular tourist attractions around Pingyao.
Another popular site is Wang's Family Courtyard. It is about 60 kilometers away. This was the Wang clan's private residence and is four times larger than Qiao's, with 123 courtyards and 1,118 rooms. The mansion, which is located in the hills, took over half a century to build. It is the largest private mansion in China.
