If you try to find out logically from Macalister road on the map you can never find it as the numbers are not in sequence & the people in Penang are very poor in giving directions.Moreover the shops do not write the address on their signboards...so ... more

YMCA Shuttle* (min RM30 per trip/ or RM15 per person) starting Mid April & prior reservation with Hostel Department
Route/ Direction: From the airport via Jalan Sultan Azalan Shah (heading to town/ Bt Feringgi area), take left turn (upon reaching 'Glugor roundabout'), Jalan Masjid Negeri, head straight to Jalan Scotland, right turn to Jalan York (at the junction before Penang turf club/ Union School),
Jalan Utama (right turn, passing thru Penang General Hospital) left turn (upon seeing the next junction & jail in front) and straight until the end with your left turn taking you to Jalan Macalister (YMCA)
Coming From: Penang Jetty, Railway (Butterworth):
Distance: 3.5KM
Journey: < 10minutes.
est Cost: RM8-RM10 by taxi/ cab OR public bus No. 1-2 (blue/white color), Public Bus 1-2, RM1.00
How: Alight from ferry Jalan Pengkalan Weld, heading to Komtar on the Penang Road, take the left turn to Jalan Burma, left turn to Anson Road, take right turn upon Jalan Perak junction and proceed to Jalan Macalister (YMCA)
From KTM railway station (Butterworth)- Penang Island:
Distance: approx 15mins journey
fare: RM0.60 per person./ trip
How: Take a ferry cross over to Penang island upon arrving Butterworth terminal. follow the same as from Penang ferr terminal then.
