The Town House Motel has been owned and operated for 25 years by Tom and Ana Marie Smith . Ana Marie was born in Pamplona Spain . Her father immigrated to Nevada in 1952 as a Basque sheepherder . Ana Marie comes from a family of ten children and has a twin brother . She immigrated to Winnemucca along with her mother and seven brothers and sisters in 1959 . Ana Marie proudly became a citizen on February 14 1968 . She is active in St . Pauls Catholic Church and served as president of the Winnemucca Basque club . Tom is a 5th generation Winnemuccan . His great grandfather was the first mayor of Winnemucca . The Smith family immigrated to Tooele Utah from Scotland in 1853 . While on his mothers side both the Havilands and Guthrie settled in the early 1860s . Tom is a 1967 graduate of the University of Nevada Reno and played college basketball for four years . He served in the U . Air Force as a B52 navigator from 19681973 and was a Winnemucca City Concilmen from 19922000 .
