The Gunjur Project Lodge is perfectly in the rural village of Gunjur in the south of Gambia, close the the unspoilt beach (with beach bar), the fishing village and Mandina.

The Gunjur Project Lodge is perfectly in the rural village of Gunjur in the south of Gambia, close the the unspoilt beach (with beach bar), the fishing village and Mandina.

The 6 rooms are set in the garden. On site a fresh water pool, a bar/restaurant, reception with souvenir shop and internet facilities.

There is a tropical garden with hide outs and hammocks, not only for you but also for the many birds and other small animals.

The beach is endless and unspoilt, ideal for long walks or just to relax. The sunsets are amazing. The fishing village is nearby where you can see the day to day life of the fishermen and even join in with bringing in the fish.

A 30 minute walk, or 5 minutes by bush taxi, will bring you to the centre of Gunjur with its local market and shops, schools, mosk etc.

In the area of the lodge are several small villages worth visiting. In the bush you have a good chance of spotting monkeys and at least one morning you have to go for a walk in the wetland, only 5 minutes from the lodge.

To explore other parts of Gambia it is possible to rent a jeep/car and guide. There is a lot to see and explore in Gambia.

We offer djembe lessons, massages, cooking workshops, guided trips, bird watching walks and more.

In our restaurant we serve our daily breakfast, but if you want to have breakfast in your room, in the garden or on the beach it is possible. We have a small set menu in addition to our daily changing specials.

We work with mostly with fresh and local produce. Snacks available all day long.
We have a barbecue and on request we organise special barbecue nights including drumming.

Why stay with us? We offer you a relaxed place with true hospitality, space and tranquillity. There are no busy resorts or shopping centres in the area (about 40 minutes drive).

The food is good and honest. Prices are ok.

Payments can be made in the local currency, the Gambian Dalasi. We also accept the most common foreign currencies at local rates. Our rates in the Lodge are Dalasi-based and will be converted into the currency of your choice.
We do not accept creditcards.

Directions

From the airport:

Leave the airport and take a left to Brikama. In the centre of Brikama at the market, just after the Shell Petrol station take a right to Gunjur. At the end of this road, you are already in Gunjur, at the T-junction take a left. Just after (second road to the right from the junction) the police stop you turn right towards Gunjur Beach and the fishing Village. Almost towards the end of this red sandy road you will find The Gunjur Project Lodge.
It is possible to arrange a transfer from and to the airport!

From Serrekunda/Kololi:

Take the Bertil Harding Highway in the direction of the airport. At the big round about you take a right towards Gunjur (also indicated Kartong). After about 25 minutes from this point you will reach a junction in Gunjur that indicated Brikama (going left) and Kartong (going straight).

You follow Kartong and just after (second road to the right) the police stop you turn right towards Gunjur Beach and the fishing Village. Almost towards the end of this red sandy road you will find The Gunjur Project Lodge.
